“A travel treat- a mid-level splurge!”
Reviewed 25 December 2012

We had spent the previous two nights in a hostel, hence the uptown palace was just that, a palace for us!
Deliciously soft and comfy beds, gorgeous bathrooms and wonderful staff who were quick, efficient and only too pleased to rapidly sort out our little problem during the stay.
Breakfast was 4* european
I would love to stay again my next visit to Milan

I stayed at the Uptown Palace during a short weekend break. I chose this hotel as I have status with the Accor frequent traveller programme (this went unacknowledged during my stay) and the location seemed relatively close to the city centre. The rooms were nice, clean, and modern. However, given the overall cost involved I don’t know if I would choose this hotel again.
I stayed in an ‘executive suite’, which is hotel-speak for a room with a separate waiting area and separate bathrooms, one featuring a shower and the other a whirlpool bath. There were floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Duomo which were nice, although also within line of sight was what appeared to be a massive apartment block, thus discouraging use of the windows during the evening and early morning. The room was very clean, and it had an extremely comfortable bed.
Staff throughout were very friendly. When I called to order room service, I asked if the restaurant had any specials of the day, and the person who answered the phone went to the restaurant, found out from the chef, and called me back (though one could argue he should have known directly) – at any rate I was very pleased with it and the food end up being very nice. The check in staff were helpful and processed me quickly, although when I asked for a taxi on checkout I swear they let the guy run up the meter before telling me it arrived (I got in with a €10 starting charge?).
There were a few things that I wasn’t really that pleased with. The wifi is not free, though the Accor website hints it is by saying rooms include wifi. Given the daily rate I would have thought free wifi could simply be thrown in (this is a big thing for me when I’m travelling). To even print your boarding pass you have to ask reception for a complimentary €5 voucher to the computer room – I imagine you only get one per stay, and should you need to print multiple things or use the computer for more than 5 minutes I imagine the bill would increase considerably. There’s no complimentary bottled water in the room either, and forget the mini bar - €10 for a small beer, whereas room service will deliver a full bottle of wine to you for €20.
There also isn’t too much terribly local to eat – at least I didn’t find much on my limited ramblings, and when I asked at reception I was recommended some place in the city centre. The city centre itself is close enough – maybe a 10-15 minute walk – but after returning from a day sightseeing you may end up stuck at the hotel for dinner should you not want to head back out. There’s a perfectly acceptable restaurant about a block away called Manhattan should you want to escape the hotel.
The last gripe I had was the tv selection – there were 2 English language channels, both of which were news channels, meaning that the same stuff was on loop every 30-60 minutes. Now I did not come to Milan to watch English language tv, but during my limited downtime before bed or whilst getting ready in the morning it would have been nice to see something other than a news loop.
Overall the hotel had good service, a very nice room, and was decently close to the city centre whilst still being in a quieter area – so good if you want to sight-see but not have tourists everywhere as soon as you step out the front door. The lack of free internet may prove to be a negative, though, as were the other management-level decisions mentioned above.

Friendly and helpful staff at check in and no waiting around. Very stylish surroundings from the moment you arrive. Excellent location just a 10 minute walk away from the magnificent Duomo, the best designer stores and La Scala. Everything is new and the hotel is kept super clean. Our room was kinda small but we are used to that and thats usually the case in hotels in most major cities anyway. Bathroom was beautiful and linens exceptionally good. The designer feel overall is really impressive and we loved it. Breakfast can be a bit overcrowded as others have said but we were up early and didn´t have to wait more than 3 minutes on only one occasion. Milan is everything we wanted it to be. Amazing buildings, galleries, stores, food and people and this hotel is a perfect choice for any visitor.

Ideal accommodations for our family of four - two rooms with a private entrance. Room 910 set up for parents with a king bed 909 for the kids with twins. The view from 910 above the rooftops was full on of the duomo which on the evening before Easter was lit like Cinderella's castle at Disney. Molta Bella!

The rooms were spacious by European standards and equipped with creature comforts like slippers by your bedside, plush oversized robes and a rain shower. The hotel provided umbrellas for those who forgot theirs at home. Of course, the free wifi was greatly appreciated. The only hotel that actually DELIVERED the advertised wifi during our stay in Italy.

Service was very impressive: front desk staff spoke countless languages, wait staff in e evening restaurant/ breakfast room were friendly and efficient. The bartender even recognized our plight one evening when our train arrived back in the city after a significant delay and arranged for the restaurant staff to serve us (politely) after normal hours. Our selection of pasta and risotto dishes were flavorful and reasonably priced.

The morning breakfast buffet was plentiful, healthy and diverse - delicious!

Location, while not in the heart of a touristy/entertainment district, was ideal -- a just a 5 minute walk from Crocetta subway station and 10 minutes' walk down via Romana from the Duomo through a safe area. Desk staff gave excellent directions.

Our only caveat: don't pull the cord in the shower thinking you are activating the exhaust vent; it's an emergency cord that generates a call for the hotel staff. Oops!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Duomo. Room 910 was amazing!!!

Fantastic hotel just a 10 mins walk from the Duomo, the staff were excellent in every way. Room was very nice with everything you could want, not huge but just perfect, amazing rainfall shower. The restaurant is to be recommended with a very knowledgable and helpful staff, the food was just lovely. The reception staff were brilliant with restaurant recomendations and bookings. Altogether a most enjoyable place to stay, what a beautiful city and we were more than happy to return to our lovely hotel each day. We used taxi transfer to and from Malpensa Airport at a fixed price of 90 euros.

Elegant and informal at the same time with a general modern look and a sober atmosphere. Very nice, smiling staff who make you always feel welcome. Well thought room with big bathrooms. Breakfast offers a wide variety of both sweet and salty options and ...everything I had was beautiful and tasty!
Conveniently located at 15 minutes walking from the Dome Cathedral and the Teatro alla Scala in a very nice and elegant area of Milan.
