Whoever designed the interior of Uptown Palace has done a wonderful job. The aesthetics of this hotel are particularly noteworthy. Overall, we were pleased with every aspect of our stay here. I would add that it met our needs better than many American 5-Star hotels.

We stayed for three nights on a short break to Milan. The hotel was quite compact but smart and the staff were very welcoming. Our room was quiet (apart from the occasional motorbike and ambulance) even though it was next to the lift. Breakfast was superb with great choice. Close enough to the Duomo to walk, but the 16 and 24 trams are very frequent.

I was very excited to stay in this hotel after the great stay I had in their sister hotel the previous week. I was unimpressed with everything about the hotel except it's location. It is within walking distance to the main sights of Milan and the bus lines for the Hop-On Hop-Off are very close. But the room was very small, the fitness centre that they advertised was not onsite (but 2 stops away in their sister hotel) and the staff were not the most friendly. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I was underwhelmed after the reviews I had read. There was nothing actually WRONG with my stay, but I wouldn't necessarily say that I enjoyed it there. It was average.

We were really impressed with this hotel. We were upgraded to a superior room and the staff were incredibly obliging and helpful. The hotel is centrally located and there is a great restaurant around the corner “Bio Pizza”. The breakfast was excellent, there was a great variety to choose from. They also do a turndown service in the evening with fresh slippers and chocloates on the pillow, a nice touch. The only fault that I would have with this hotel is that it is lacking a swimming pool and spa. For an Italian hotel, this hotel exceeded our expectations, we will definitely be returning

LOCATION & FACILITIES:
4/5: Location suited us – when I was looking for a Milan hotel, I balanced up cost and location, and this seemed to be best – not the exorbitant charge of some in the centre but within easy (10/15 minutes) walking of the Duomo etc. Also, we wanted to do the “Hop-on Hop-off” city bus tour initially, to see the main sights and orientate ourselves – one of the stops is just a few minutes’ walk away (by the hospital & university buildings) which was perfect.
10 minute walk to the Navigli area, which has a fabulous atmosphere and choice of restaurants & bars in the evening.
Public facilities (reception / breakfast room / bar) and bedrooms are all freshly decorated in a contemporary manner.

SERVICE:
4/5: Reception, bar and breakfast staff were all pleasant and helpful.

ROOMS:
4/5: We booked a standard room as we intended spending our time being out and about seeing the sights, and that did fine. However, our bedroom didn’t have a lot of storage – clearly meant for just a couple of nights stay. Quiet, overlooking a residential common “square” at the back. Clean, with good AC, mini bar, TV. Bathroom was very nice, with good shower over bath, plenty of mini toiletries, and two sinks.

RESTAURANT:
4/5: Breakfast was a fairly good Italian selection of fresh fruits, cereals, rolls, yoghurts, croissants, cheese, cold meats. Also a couple of hot servers if you like eggs / bacon in the morning (which is unusual for Italy!)

SUMMARY:
If you’re in Milan for a central business meeting, or a couple of days sightseeing, I would say this would meet your needs!!

Stayed for 3 nights in this modern hotel in Milan hotel is well situated 15 mins walk south of Duomo and Galleria, also close by is the Navigli which comes alive in the evening with the bars and restaurants offering good food and entertainment options along with pleasant views of the canals. The Uptown offers modern rooms which are spotlessly clean and modern the breakfast buffet each morning offers a good choice of breads, meats, cereals and drinks. The only thing i found was that you had to come down to lobby area to access free inter-net. Would return to hotel if in Milan.
