“Great weekend break in Milan!”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

We booked here on a cheap deal so didn't expect much but we was very pleased with the hotel and staff. The room was clean with a decent priced minibar (€3 a beer) and bathroom stocked with toiletries. The road could be noisy with ambulance sirens etc. during the night if the window is left open, also we had someone above us with the TV on incredibly loud from 5am in the morning which we had to ring reception about, otherwise I may have been on a manslaughter charge... The hotel breakfast which was included in our stay was very good, croissants, fresh bread & cheeses, bacon, eggs and a good choice of hot & cold drinks. The Di Angeli metro stop is a 10 minute walk, then around 10-15 minute underground ride to the city centre (Duomo). The city itself is quite expensive, but you can find the odd good, reasonably priced bar/restaurant. The San Siro is only 10 minute walk from the hotel which is well worth a visit for a match or stadium/museum tour. We took a train ride to the beautiful Lake Como which is definitely worth the €10 return train fare! It only takes approx. 45min. I would highly recommend Milan, although my next visit to Italy will hopefully be Venice & Rome.

This is not a 4-star hotel what concerns the room.
The room gave to a noisy street so the traffic woke me up in the middle of the night despite double windows. The room is somewhat shabby and oldish, very small, especially what concerns the batroom. The pillow was as hard as a brick , quite uncomfortable. An elevator spacious enough for 1 or 2 persons so I found myslef walkin up to 6th floor instead of waiting for three passages. The cleaning was Ok except for some black hair in the bathroom but I would not recommend it to anyone as a high quality 4-star hotel. Dunny, maybe for Milan it is normal...but the general impression is quite negative.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT facing the street

Dear Hanna,
we are very sorry for your complain. It is very strange, because BW Hotel Astoria is a modern and traditional 4 stars Hotel. We have normal rooms, normal bathrooms, and we give for free , without paying nothing:
wi fi free everywhere
free drink at your arrival
free magazines and newslpapers
free Internationale Tv ( sports included).. and much more..
this is not normal in Milan city, but it is normal and FREE for the BW Hotel Astoria 'guest.

we are very sorry for the cleaness, and I promise and it will not happen again.
thanks in any case for your suggestions.
best Regards

The hotel is a bit out of town, about half way to the stadium and 10minutes walk to Via Ravizza/Marghera for some pretty decent restaurants and bars. Connection with the centre are pretty good by tram 16 which stops in the next street.

Reception was really friendly, but the rooms are smallish (and the shower pretty much so; I think my shoulders are wider than the shower is deep…) Bed was pretty good.
Breakfast more than decent with fresh oranges and a press, so good OJ.

I had been to Italy before, Rome to see my gaffer-s house - Catholic, but thought I would try a different part this time.
Flew in to Bergamo and transferred to City centre, taxi to the Astoria.
Lovely welcome, huge glass of white wine and some "nibbles"
Hotel was clean and staff pleasant, The room was perfect, free wifi and free safe.
Had evening meal at the hotel one night and it was excellent. The lady at reception recommended an authentic Italian restaurant near by and that too was exceptional.

It is rare for me and my wife to try the same place twice as the world is so big but Milan and the BEST WESTERN Astoria will hopefully see us again.

We didn't know what expect, however the hotel surpassed our expectations. The staff were helpful and made our first trip to Milan memorable. We were given advise on restaurants, sites to see and travel arrangements. Nothing was too much effort and all requests were met with a smile and a willingness to make our trip special. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and the staff were happy to accommodate our needs. Transport links are great, with trams around the corner and the metro 10 minutes away. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel with great service, look no further!

We were given a 2 night stay here as a gift from our sons. The hotel is quite a long walk from the city centre- it took us well over an hour each way. Public transport is good, but not very easy if, like us, you have a mobility scooter. There were steps up to the hotel entrance, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful and always carried it up and down for us- so much appreciated! In fact nothing was too much trouble for them. They always had a smile, and we also appreciated the fact that most spoke excellent English as to our shame we speak little Italian. The public rooms were lovely. Bedrooms were small and perhaps a little dated but were immaculately clean although rather too hot for our liking (an air con was not working) Bathroom a bit cramped but certainly no skimping on towels and toiletries!Breakfast was awesome- so much variety! We only had one real complaint- when we were awoken from a deep sleep at 2 am by a phone call to say someone had complained about all the noise coming from our room (well I know my husband snores a bit, but....!) It turned out to be people on the floor below. We did think the night staff should have checked it out before ringing what turned out to be the wrong room. Anyway the following morning our complaint was taken very seriously and with such courtesy, and some compensation given, that we felt we had been treated very fairly. Other than that the hotel was nice and quiet. There is a very good little restaurant (La Primula) less than a 2 minute walk away (came recommended by hotel staff) with excellent food and good prices by Milan standards. The receptionist suggested she book ahead for us, and it was as well she did as the place was full. We would certainly recommend this hotel, although if any of your party has mobility issues, bear in mind it is not city centre and you are in for a long walk or a possible struggle with trams/buses/underground.

Nice, clean and reasonably priced hotel on good location. Staff is pleasant and speaks good english. Has parking garage nearby that is not very expensive. For the price, excellent choice of cheeses and breads for breakfast.
Rooms are rather small and not modern, but they are clean.
Underground station Lotto is 5-10 mins away.
