“Average and comfortable.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2011

Hotel is located not too far from regular attractions what Milan has to offer. Metro/Train station is in the vicinity and this makes the location convenient.

I am still finding it difficult to understand if the hotel is "tired looking" or if it has got the "old charm". The standard rooms are definitely small and tired looking. The executive rooms are spacious and has even got a walk-in closet. Most rooms have an attached balcony which was a plus for me as a smoker. Hotel beds are comfortable and clean.

Hotel amenities are plenty and of good quality. There is a decent variety of TV channels for entertainment in many languages as well as some good reading materials available free of cost inside the room and lobby area.

Well equipped business center is available at lower lobby level.
I really enjoyed going for breakfast buffet in this hotel and it is something never to miss.

In-room dining is good and the quality of food and portion size is very good. Room service staff are on the ball and switched on at all times. I must mention "Mr.Hematha" from room service division who attended to my dining requests was very efficient, friendly and confident in what he was doing.

I am not too impressed by the front office staff and their service. I have felt there was no consistency in the service offered. one moment they are friendly and helpful and the next minute everything seems to be too much of a hassle for them. i.e. request for an adaptor, or change of room. Hotel doorman certainly does not make eye contact with the guests which makes the first impression negative, Obvious fact was he was more interested in flirting with young women in the hotel lobby than attending to paying guests! Not good!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

Stayed at the Melia Milano for 2 nights - pretty unremarkable really. Cannot see how the hotel is rated 5* but apparently it is. Room was clean & tidy, well appointed, as was the bathroom. Location is very "local" and is fine if you want to use the metro. Otherwise it is a €25 taxi ride to the middle of town which can be a pain. Staff were pleasant and efficient in general. The breakfast experience was quite negative having to sit outside in the restaurant lobby as there were no seats (and very little food) inside. Same experience in the bar, although there must have been a function going on - just not enough space and not enough staff. We also experienced drilling and hammering early on a Saturday morning as the hotel seemed to be gearing up for a majour event. As the title states, nothing really wrong with the hotel, all pretty average and quite expensive for what it is.

Dear BigTaps,

I'm sorry to come to know his disappointment in this way. Specifically about the Saturday's morning noise. We are committed to the renewal of certain but this mustn’t interfere with the regular life of the hotel and the guest’s stay.
I have already shared his information with all the staff so that there will be no more such unpleasant situations.

The hotel is - I think - in a good central location. I have to say "I think" because I lost all sense of direction spending 45 minutes in a taxi between railwaystation and hotel for what is not more that a 10 mile distance. The traffic in Milan is just a mess. The hote looks nice in a grand old kind of style. Lots of gold and black marble and an impressive staircase.
I had asked for an extra large bed, and that actually had come through. Upon checking I was upgraded to a quite large room at no extra charge. Nice . Check in and out service was friendly and effecient. Although a collague told me that her early morning check-out was a bit of a disaster. I stayed at the hotel because it was the venu of a large trade dinner. The dinner itself went well. The after dinner catering at the different bars was dramatic. The staff (hired hands ?) were slow, clueless, and completely lost. At one point there must have been 25 people waiting to place an order at one side of the bar, where at the other side one young man took 10 minutes to pull 4 beers, and the other guy was leisurely cleaning glasses. Vey badly organised.
I was told there was a subway stattion just around the corner, and the centre of town was not far away, and I guess that was all accurate info, but I could not check as I spent another 45 minutes getting frm the Hotel to the railway station through the infernal Milan traffic.
Take the subway people !

Dear Nico_Nelly,

The Meliá Milano is situated well away from the chaotic traffic of Milan, but as you say the traffic doesn’t make it easy to cross the city with a car or a cab. Luckily the hotel, located in touch a Lotto’s subway stop, it is just a few minutes ride on the Milan metro from both the new trade fair centre in Rho for business reason and the city centre for shopping time. Also San Siro Stadium, stage of the best football matches of FC Internazionale and AC Milan, is walking distance from the hotel.
Definitely agree with you. If you can use public transport to discover this beautifull city.

This is a very nice hotel located close to the subway route. If you are visiting Milan, Italy, you may want to consider staying here because it is quiet and comfortable. It's a large hotel, similar to a Hilton or Hyatt. It has a grand staircase!

I was met by a friendly and attentive staff. The hotel restaurant is very pricey and not worth the amount paid. I call it "hotel food" - acceptable, but unremarkable. However, the room was large, comfortable and the bed was soft and very acceptable. There is adjacent covered, secured parking available for 15 Euros per day. I paid 112 Euros per night, which is a discounted rate, but very good.

This is a good place to stay if you are here sightseeing because of it's proximity to the subway, which was fast, efficient and safe. Two days of unlimited rides is 8.50 Euros per person.

Dear Chris500, Meliá Milano is located in the Fieramilanocity, it is just a few minutes ride on the Milan metro from city centre. The public transport, especially the underground, are efficient and they are the right solution to city museum visit or shopping’s day careless.
Thank you for choosing us for your stay.

This hotel was situated in a great area of Milan to really get a great taste of milan's local eateries, grocers and neighborhood feel. Also access to subways is great. Hotel rooms were sparse, beds were hard. Food was pretty good but very busy hotel-lots of events/meetings happening at one time. Prefer this side of Milan over Westin Palace!!!

Kindly BotRoad, the Meliá Milano is situated with in touching distance of the beating heart of Milan’s financial district, yet at the same time well away from the chaotic traffic of the big city. You’re right, the neighborhood is so pretty and there are so many cute restaurants and typical taverns to spend some hours in friendship eating Italian flavors.
Thanks for your review and we are waiting for your next stay!

This hotel seems really out of place in its out of the way side street location, but is a great find. It's gloriously over the top, especially the foyer, and the rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. It's probably a good 4 star rather than 5 star, and the gym is expensive, but overall it's good value for a Milan hotel of this quality

That's probably because it's a fair distance out of the centre, but it is a very easy metro journey (about 15 mins) to the Duomo, and it's also a great place to be based if you're going to a match at ther San Siro. There are also a couple of great traditional restaurants close by - the one across the road is particularly good.

Great place, be forewarned, it is around 90 euro to get from MXP airport to here. Very friendly staff, get you checked in pretty quickly. Great lobby area, large and accommodating. Room was pretty nice and spacious, bed was comfortable, and overall the room was pretty clean. Gym and spa are outstanding, lots of machines, dumbbells, and cardio equipment. Nothing really around the area to see, best bet is to get on the train and go see the city that way. Overall, very pleased with the stay.
