“BEST HOTEL IN MILAN!!”
Reviewed 20 February 2013

we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights from friday to sunday. The hotel is proper lush and the architect and service of the hotel was amazing. The breakfast was really good also. The staff on reception were very helpful and this hotel was referred from the cab driver as 'One of the best hotels in Milan'. I would advise anyone who stays in Milan to stay in this hotel no matter what the stay is for.

Honestly speaking, maybe Im from Asia, I do not really admire the deco of this hotel. The hotel looks very antique... and scary. Reception area is OK, nice & classy. Walkway was dimmed. Scare is the only word can describe my feeling when I entered the room (don't fool by their web pictures). Antique furniture, super dimmed light and with many 3D pictures hanging on the wall. Seriously, if Im a single traveller, I rather forfeit my money and stay in a hostel. How could I have a good night sleep when there were so many eyes (picture) looking at me? And worse, I just slept next to a 3D picture. Besides, I hardly can read a book with this lighting. Basically, sleeping is the only thing I can do. No TV (boring TV programmes) no book no game as the lighting was really bad. And ya.... Mosquito... my night was disturbed by the buzzing mosquito near my ears, I had to cover my head to sleep on the 1st night!!

No kettle as well, you will need to pay for the kettle. If Im not mistaken, it is euro5 for a kettle and some coffee & tea bags. Is this consider a 4 or 5 stars hotel? Im doubted. One thing good about this hotel is a nearby supermarket which opened till 9pm. Most of the convenient shops in Italy will close around 5pm. Thank to this supermarket, you can still manage to get some mineral water, food and do some shopping at night (better than staying in the room looking at the 3D picture). Other than that, sorry, you won't get much things to do after 6pm. We walked more than 30mins to look for food after 8pm, but except McD, we can't find anything else unless you don't mind spending to dine in hotel's restaurant.

Overall, a good experience for me & my friends as we never stay in such an antique hotel before. But would I be staying again, I don't think so. I prefer a modern and contemporary hotel.

I stayed here during the BIT 2013 travel trade fair in February. The hotel is very good, it has many facilities and good staff. I took the interior room to be quite. The rooms are nice. There is free Wifi connection all through the hotel, just get your password fr5om the reception. If you need a faster connection (such as downloading movies etc) you may ask for a faster internet but then you have to pay. There is LCD cable TV in the room, safe, minibar etc. The bath is nice but the shower curtain is very primitive!

The hotel is next to the old fair area (Fiera Milano City) and it's very near to the new fair area (Rho Fiera), only 5 or 6 metro stops.

Overall, it's a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: if you want a quite room get the interior rooms

We stayed whilst on a long weekend break in Milan. At first we thought it would be too far away from the shopping areas, but we were proved wrong. The Metro is only a short walk away. However there is not a lot to do in the immediate area around the hotel. The service in the hotel restaurant was very good but it is expensive for the quality of food on offer. Internet access is free but you have to pay to watch the tv in your room. Breakfast is good with an extensive selection of cereals, pastries, fruits, yoghurts and hot foods. I would recommend this hotel for the relaxed feel and good service.

We've just had a fantastic weekend in the Melia Milano, along with another couple of good friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful indeed. We had just had a very unpleasant experience on the Milan Metro at Centrale Station - two young girls jostled us and attempted to pick our pockets and handbags, so the very warm welcome we received at the hotel made us feel much better.

Our room was at the end of the corridor on the fifth floor and very quiet indeed. The balcony had a view over San Siro and onwards to the mountains. It was very clean and well supplied.

When we needed advice to plan a rail trip to Lake Como, the young man at reception was extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him.

The barman (Ehab?) was a real character and very cheery and amusing. We had a drink and a game of pool there each night and it was very comfortable and relaxed.

The breakfasts were amazing. Freshly cooked omelettes made to your preference and a vast array of cereals, cakes, bread, coffees, juices and even prosecco!

We had a meal in the hotel on the Sunday night and found it to be expensive. A more reasonable choice was La Nuova Tavernetta on Via Albani just around the corner (closed on Sundays though).

All in all, a great place to stay for a weekend break. Close enough to the Metro to go to see the sights and just far enough out of the city to be relaxed.

But, definitely do take extra care with your valuables, particularly on the Metro!

We stayed at the hotel the first weekend in February. We arrived in the evening to a warm welcome. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and helpful. He spoke very good English and answered all our questions.

Our room was very large with a HUGE bed. It was clean and exactly what we needed. The bathroom had a lovely size bath and there were a selection of bath products to use. In the room you had a LCD tv and a mini bar (expensive-but when are they not?) plus a safe which came in very handy.

The hotel was a 5 minute walk from Lotto Metro station and the Duomo stop is only 7 stops on from there. Everything was in easy reach. The area around the hotel itself was very quiet. The is one restuarant opposite, which we ate at and the food and service we couldnt fault. Other than that there is not much going on.

The breakfast buffet is fantastic, with a good selection of food on offer. The staff were very helpful again and seated us where we wanted to go.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay in Milan. The hotel was brilliant and i am not quite sure why there are bad reviews?! We had a great time.

Room Tip: Fifth floor has a great view of the mountains in the distance.

Meliá Milano Hotel is located near the metro station, 10 stops from Termini (with a change of line 1). The hotel is decorated in the old style. Very friendly staff at reception. Large rooms, equipped enough. Free WiFi. Bathroom large and clean. Available vanity, bed very comfortable. Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the first floor. A wide selection of drinks, a nice variety of dishes - even sweet. Surely no one will come out hungry;)
