“Good hotel near the centre of Milan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2011

I spent a couple of nights in this hotel, it was a pleasant experience.

The hotel is located near the centre of Milan. For those unfamiliar with the city, it is near via Paolo Sarpi. I read in a number of reviews this are labelled as "China Town", however readers should know that this is a relatively good and safe area in Milan. There is a populous Chinese community settled there, but this shouldn't deter anyone from choosing to stay here as this area is very convenient for most leisure and business requirements (near Garibaldi and Central Station, near the Fiera, and close to the hart of the city.

True you find graffiti here and there and some corners aren't great but, alas, this is Milan!

As per the hotel itself, it's all clean and well furnished, with a reasonably priced underground parking that has direct access to the hotel - in other words you don't have to go outside the premises to get your car. The room we had was spacious and clean - however this is where the hotel loses one extra rating point: the air conditioning was noisy. Not a problem in December but it definitely needs a fix.

The breakfast is one of the strong points: the breakfast area is clean, pleasant, with good and fresh products to accommodate all tastes. To give an example, the choice ranges from the usual English breakfast to persimmons, baked apples (with oranges and cinnamon, yummy), to yogurt and freshly squeezed juices.

There would be more to write but in short this is a hotel that I would recommend and that I will definitely use again in the future.

This is a solid, very well run hotel. Parking inside, great breakfast, nice rooms. And you can choose to eat in the inner restaurant, one of the best fish restaurants in town, or just cross the street and have a fabulous meat treat at Al Vecchio Porco (check my review). The lobby gives you also the chance to seat properly and host a business meeting.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower floors facing the street can be noisy (a Harley Davidson dealer and workshop is r...

2 nights on business room facing the back "yard". Very nice room, comfortable bed, quiet and clean. The location for me was fine as it was a short taxi drive from my meetings. If a tourist then a bit "off track" but still would consider based on value. Paid Internet was very slow- so I need to go to lobby to really enjoy a decent speed. A short taxi ride to Cadorna train station which is also a plus to people flying from Malpensa airport. Good breakfast.

I had a great stay at the Hermitage.
The area around the hotel has a very cosmopolitan feel and I personally never felt unsafe walking around the area.
The hotel has a very grand lobby area, I received a warm welcome and was quickly checked in.
My room room was immaculate and very comfortable with a very large marble bathroom.
It also had a seating area with sofa and coffee table and was more like a junior suite.
I liked the mix of classic decoration with lovely plush fabrics with modern conveniences in the room.
The breakfast was great with a large selection of quality produce available.
The service from all the hotel staff was great.
I hope to return to Milan with my wife in the future, and would definitely stay at the Hermitage again.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2011

Stayed for one night with our family (2 adults and 2 teenage children) in September 2011. We initially booked a room for 4 people, but they didn't have rooms for four! Before we could say "what's going on?", they told us that they had put us into adjoining rooms for no extra charge, greatly appreciated.
Check-in was very easy and no problems, as was the taxi from the central train station - took about 10-15 minutes and only cost Euro12.
We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor and they are really nice; each room had a king or two singles, a couch, coffee table and flat screen TV.
Bathroom was nice and big and the vanity was large enough for my wife to spread all her toiletries out.
The room looks nice - has a safe but couldn't find an iron, nice carpet, heavy drapes which keep out all the morning lights, timber panelling and the walls are finished with padded material - seems really posh and may sound funny, but in fact looks really good.
The hotel is located to the north-west of the city about 30 minute walk from the Duomo and shopping area. We were there on a Sunday night so there weren't that many restaurants open, but about one block away is a mall with lots of bars and cafes to get something to eat, but not so much on a Sunday.
Needed to pay for the internet but was slow. Our iPad kept losing contact with the server, but the Android smart phone didn't have a problem.
Had breakfast in the hotle and was the usual hotel type breakfast, nice selection, good espresso and nice surroundings.
We caught the express train from the airport (Euro25 for a family of 4) which took about 45 minutes to the central station - very efficient and comfortable.
The hotel is not necessarily in a fashoniable part of the city, seems to be very popular with business type people, but walking around we didn't feel unsafe at all. Yes would recommen this hotel, more so for the value and comfort (8/10) and location (7/10)

Hotel extremely pleasant and comfortable. Room large with good quality furnishings and one of the comfiest beds we have ever slept in. Reception staff very efficient and helpful but not particularily friendly. Breakfast very good. Location in middle of China town felt slightly intimidating at first, although perfectly safe. Tram stop fairly close by to get you into the city centre. The only criticism would be that the location, being in the heart of China town, did not make you feel as if you were staying in Italy.

Good Morning,
we thank you for your kind review about your stay in our hotel.

We are glad you enjoyed our structure, even though it is in an oriental environment.
But, as you wrote, the city center is easily reachable by tram or with a short walk, and the area is perfectly safe.

We hope to have you again as our guest, as soon as you come back to Milan.

Best regards,

Like most reviewers, I discovered the location to be not so great. The biggest issue is the customer service failure. I ended up in a room that had poor air conditioning. I called the front desk. Antonio came up. He acknowleged the issue and said there was nothing he could do. It was almost like it was my fault that I lucked out with the room that had bad a/c. Would NEVER stay here again. Even if it were free....

Good Afternoon,
we apologize for the problem with the Air Conditioning system you experienced during your stay in our hotel.

Unfortunately we don't know your name and are not able to check what happened, but we sesitized our staff of more collaboration with our Guests.

We really hope you can give us another chance to demostrate the quality of our structure.

Best regards,
