“Upscale hotel in a unique location”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed my one-night stay here. About a 10-minute taxi ride from Cardona Station (where we got off the Malpensa Express), the hotel is located in the heart of Milan's Chinatown (I know, who would have thunk it?) along Via Paolo Sarpi.

Even though the Duomo was about 20 minutes away, it was pretty easy to get there by bus (the bus stop was only a five-minute walk away and the hotel gave good directions (although FYI, you have to buy a bus ticket from inside a store - they don't sell it on the bus itself. Luckily, some friendly Chinese-Italians directed us to a tabacchi street and we were on our way).

The hotel exudes old-world charm. The room had unique furniture and had nice finishing touches. Only issue I had was that our thermostat was broken and our room was so hot (we just left the window open).

Friendly service at the front desk and very helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions.

I was just passing through Milan for a quick night and went for one of the cheaper hotels. I was so pleasantly surprised by the hermitage hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. In house breakfast was complementary and a great spread with delicious coffee. Rooms were spacious with a beautiful large bathroom. The location is a bit off the beaten path but it's easy to walk to the cathedral and the gallery from here; slightly strange to be in Milan's Chinatown area but in a charming way. All this for 65 pounds. Could not recommend this hotel enough!

I thought this hotel was a very traditional Italian hotel and was very clean and nice.
Staff were friendly and room was nice and spatious and nice bathroom. The only shame was the location as it was in Chinatown and found it difficult to find my way around.

The hotel was fine for the value.

The best part of our stay was the breakfast. Fresh bread. Good coffee. There were daily afternoon cocktail hours with snacks, too. The staff was very cordial and professional.

The worst part of the hotel was the location. Once we figured out the bus routes, it wasn't too much of a problem. Still it would take 20 minutes or so on the bus to get to the historical center, duomo area. There were restaurants in the Chinatown area, but not ones we wanted to go to. There were some very good restaurants within 30 minutes walk, which we didn't mind doing.

The decor of the place could be described as either old world charm or old fashioned--hunter green carpet, wood trims, checkered tiled floor. There's nothing wrong with it, but I was expecting something a little more fashionable for Milan. Our room was of a good size. Very clean. Comfortable bed. The large picture window in the room was lovely--lots of light! The bathroom was nice and spacious, but the water of the shower would seep through the partition onto the floor. There were signs of previous repair, so it seemed that the management knew about the problem. We just dealt with it with extra towels on the floor.

I stayed for 5 nights. I'm not sure what makes this a 4 star hotel. It was clean, especially the bathrooms. The hallways are noisy. There is no water in the room (an inconvenience). The windows are large and open easily for air. Staff was adequate. No deadbolt of double lock on the door. Internet is free but sometime slow. Breakfast was very good and restaurant staff was nice. Great location (15 minute walk to Duomo). Overall adequate for business or in and out.

I have nothing detrimental to say about the actual hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean and all the staff from the reception to the breakfast were friendly approachable and cheerful. The breakfast was adequate but nothing special although the freshness of the bread was commendable --but it quickly ran out and was not restocked. The bar was reasonably priced and had complimentary nibbles which was a nice touch.
As the title implies the only problem for a tourist is the lengthy walk to the centre. The nearest metro is a 20 minute walk although a 10 min walk will get you to a tram stop though of course you need to know where they go!. If it hadn't been raining solidly for the 4 days we were there I may have less of a problem with the location but central it is not. I knew it was in 'Chinatown' but any resemblance to the London 'Chinatown' lies solely in the name--This is not a tourist environment and most premises were steel shuttered in the evening. Of course none of this can be laid at the door of the hotel---but it does make you wary of Last Minute. com's Secret Hotel system. I'd just like to lift the hotel and place it nearer the centre.

For a 4 star Milan hotel this just off the centre Hermitage Hotel is a great find. Large clean spacious rooms , very comfortable beds- great linen , and adequate bathrooms this gem worked perfectly for our stay . Staff were very helpful and friendly. I drove there from France and they took my car for the stay in the underground car park. Breakfast was included and we ate in the restaurant first night.. Surprisingly good . The hotel is only a short taxi or tram ride to the city centre , maybe 7 mins and a ten mins walk to Corso Como.

We would return without any doubt. And will .

Room Tip: Ask for one looking over the roadway.. They are larger than the inner new as it looked from the fir...
