In what was our last night in Italy we checked into the Michelangelo after walking out of our pre-booked accommodation earlier in the day. Admittedly it was more upmarket and more expensive than what we had originally planned thus it is not fair to compare. However this hotel saved our holiday. Memories of Italy would be pleasant. The room we stayed in was luxurious. The bed was huge and comfortable. Great bathroom and the breakfast was brilliant. Probably the highlight for us was the friendly staff on the reception desk. We checked in somewhat frazzled but the staff were great. Quad rooms were not available but they let the 4 of us stay in a room designed for 3 (and there was still plenty of space), they helped us get to the San Siro to see a football match (a last minute idea) and even offered to get tickets for us. The location by the station was extremely convenient as the bus to the airport left from there. This was a 100 metre walk.

Great location directly across the street from main train station. Comfortable furnishings, especially the linen sheets. No free wi-fi, in rooms or lobby was a negative. But there are four or five computers for guests to use in one of the bars. They are up a flight of stairs so would not be accessible to anyone with mobility problems. The breakfast room is quite dreadful for a hotel of this quality -- in the basement, with unappealing decor, and indifferent service. My room's bathroom had a whirlpool tub, quite a nice feature.

A very good, solid, business-like hotel across from station. Excellent bed, linen, service. Very soundproof. Location is convenient to travelers and a 10 minute ride on metro from the major sites, but there is not much in area around hotel. A good place to stay and rest when first arriving in Italy or before leaving. Only negative is no internet in room, but there is free internet in the lobby bar.

Just returned from a 17 day pleasure trip to Italy with 7 women friends. While in Milano, we stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Michelangelo. Because the hotel is close to the central train station, it was a perfect location for us to use the subway system and the train. The hotel was immaculate, quiet, the rooms were generous in size, the contents of the mini-bar were free!!, and breakfast was complete with eggs, meat, cheese, yogurt, assorted cereals, breads and assorted beverages. The staff was courteous and professional.
Absolutely loved this hotel and recommend it highly.

I always stay in Michelangelo when I come to Milan on a business trip. I like it because of a good service, nice rooms and a location. It is right next to the Centrale train station, you can get daily newspaper and the breakfast is great! There is a fresh orange juice, fruits, real Italian coffee, and a big choice of warm dishes (pasta, eggs, beans, etc.) and a variety of cheese and ham. The staff is very nice and helpful. The problems that I experience - as a business traveller - are two. No WIFI in the rooms (Internet connection in the bar is slow and you cannot really work there if needed); the other problem is that it is not easy to get a taxi when you need to go for a meeting in the morining. Even though there is a taxi stand right across the street, there is usally a long queue there.
In general, this hotel is an exellent value for money and I can recommend it to tourists as well as business people. I stayed in other hotels in Milan and I know that it is not easy to find a hotel like this.

We have stayed three times at the Michelangelo during the past 15 years. The hotel is very comfortable and the rooms are very quiet. The quality of furnishing and decoration is superb, and the rooms have very thoughtful design ideas, especially the closets and shelves for suitcases. Electric curtains block out all the light. A quiet buzzer at the door means no pounding on the doors to waken you. Maid service was superb with a little mat for your feet on getting out of bed and slippers provided. A single whirlpool bath with a power shower. Breakfast is huge with everything you can think of to eat, including pasta! We ate one night in the restaurant and it was very good. We did not think the place looked scruffy at all, although there are a few scratches if you look hard enough. These are more than compensated for by the beautiful marble and wood everywhere. There is high speed internet access available in a room off the bar, but not in the bedrooms, which is a little annoying in a hotel of this quality. You are 3 minutes away from the Centrale Station where there are buses to all the airports. I would definitely stay there again, and heartily recommend the Michelangelo.
