Booked this hotel last minute as our previous booking for another hotel was mistakenly cancelled. We saw that this hotel had a great price for 2 nights and so we booked it.
When we saw the rooms, we immediately knew why it was so cheap. The rooms were old, extremely dusty, and had a smell. It felt like a moldy, damp smell, but we couldn't verify as we didn't see any signs of mold. The rooms were especially dark. The bathroom was clean and spacious, but the bath tub was small. The carpet was old and dusty. It felt as if dust would rise everytime we stepped on it.
In addition, the rooms were very stuffy and hot. We asked the management why there was no air-conditioning and they told us that there was a law in Italy regulating the use of AC only in the summer months so it couldn't be turned on in May. We found this hard to believe and as our later hotels in Florence and Rome all had A/C, we felt that the hotel just wanted to save costs. Thus, we had to resort to opening all the windows to get rid of the heat.
The bathroom also had a really annoying motor that kept running and was noisy until shut off.
The staff were otherwise very courteous and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good and they had some friendly servers.
The hotel is also really close to the Repubblica metro station and to Milano Centrale train station.
I wouldn't come here for a long stay or for vacation, but 1 to 2 nights is okay. This is a good hotel for young travellers looking for a cheap deal.
