I was booked to stay at Hotel Sanpi during a recent business trip to Milan. This is a very old-looking hotel with poor rooms and mediocre amenities. The rooms are in a desperate need of an update. I arrived at the hotel before 9am, due to an early flight arrival. I was told that a room would be available only after 2pm. I was given an option to leave my luggage at the reception desk until a room became available, and to use a single washroom located in the lobby. Finally, I was given a single room around 1pm, since I was traveling alone. This was the smallest and most dingy looking room I have ever seen in my travels. The room had very poor lighting (only two dim sconces), dusty cabinets, an outdated bathroom with stained fittings, and the smallest-ever shower stall. The table in the room doubled as a TV stand, and hence was practically useless to be used for, say, keeping a laptop while working, or writing. The bed was short and I had to fold my legs at the knee while sleeping (I'm 6' tall). There was no constant flow of warm water from the shower. It would suddenly turn cold for 5 seconds every 1-2 minutes. The staff were ok and probably did the best they could given the condition of this hotel. The breakfast options were good. The hotel is around 3 minutes by walk to Porta Venezia and 5 min by walk to Repubblica metro stops. Overall, this is a hotel once would probably stay in for 1 day if your budget is tight. Otherwise, please look elsewhere.

My wife and I stayed for one night at this unique hotel, which was about 15-20 minutes walk from Milan Central Station.

Our room is on level 2, in the middle of the garden with 2 rooms below and 2 rooms above. The furniture were of old fashion, but room was big with a double bed and another single bed (so can accommodate 3 guests), the bathroom was renovation and new, with sky light coming down from above.

Pro:
1. Room was big and clean and stock with basic amenities.

2. Breakfast was comprehensive, and service was good.

3. Staff were friendly, polite and professional.

4. Although the hotel is “near” to Milan Central Station, but if you have heavy luggage, it is advisable to take a Taxi which cost about Euro 10.

5. We managed to find a few Chinese restaurants nearby, serving good authentic Chinese food at reasonable price.

Cons:
1. My room was at level 2, but without lift. Thank goodness we have hotel staff to bring the two heavy luggage to our room.

I was impressed with the service - very slick and welcoming, and a great first impression of Milan. It was a little walk to the sights, but absolutely acceptable. Room was a little small, but nicely designed (although a very awkwardly placed towel rail in the small bathroom made things tricky!) If you can avoid the smokers, there’s a lovely courtyard in the back which is perfect for drinks and breakfast. Would certainly stay again.

We stayed at this hotel for just one night. Our rooms were lovely clean and spacious.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable. There was a quite beautiful courtyard where it was nice to cool down in the shade. We kept our luggage at the hotel as we were catching a night train the night we checked out in the morning.,
. We found the young gentleman on duty in reception very helpful and friendly.
We would have liked to stay longer.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Sanpi Milano. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the central train station. It is very close to a Metro stop. While the area around it is very busy, it is on a street that doesn't get as much traffic. Our room was very quiet. It was small with little room for our luggage. The bathroom was very nice, large and modern. WiFi worked great. There were ample plugs for recharging devices. Front desk staff were very helpful and accommodating. They allowed us to keep one of our rooms after checkout time which was much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent! The garden is lovely. The gym is quite small with few machines, but at least they have one. Hotel Sanpi Milano is a good choice for a comfortable stay in Milan.
