Best hotel we've stayed at in the north of Italy. It is a bit pricey but that is Milan for you. Our room was very spacious, our bathroom large (shower over bath) and we even had a small balcony overlooking the street. Couldn't fault the room although the shampoo and bath gel seemed to have been watered down. Breakfast was OK - buffet style with plenty of choice and good coffee. However, on two out of the three days the bread rolls were a little dry.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - again the best we have experienced in the north of Italy. Our return flight wasn't until late but the staff allowed us to leave our luggage and then provided a room with toilet (also shower if needed) for us to change into after a hard last day's shopping.
I would query other reviews on their timing from the centre. There is a bus stop outside the hotel (reception even provides one day travel cards at no extra price) but it does take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest metro. This, itself is a good 15 minutes walk to the Duomo - so allow 30 minutes to get to the very centre.
The area is safe to walk in. As far as restaurants are concerned avoid those around the central square - the food is good but will cost you a premium. Our advice would be to head for the Navigli area (metro to Porta Genova and then a 3 minute walk) where there are a range of restaurants to fit all wallets.

This place is in a quiet area about 15 min walk from the historic centre. Tram stops nearby, and the desk attendant was most helpful with the complicated details of street parking and public transport. The room had a pleasant outlook over the street, nothing fancy, and on the whole it was a good choice.

We chose this hotell since it is within walking distance (15 min) to Cardona train station and had good reviews from this site.

The staff was friendly and helpful regarding our late luggage (KLM though Amsterdam...). The room were in an old fashion, but were in excellent condition. Clean and practical bathroom. Breakfast was ok by international standards, which is as good as it gets in Italy... The room was quite pricey at 135€ (double).

After a hard drive through Milan we were lucky enough to stay at the Hotel Lancaster. The location was in the center of town near great shopping, museums, and parks. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was beyond belief- exquisite. The cost very reasonable. The room was small but adequate, some of the rooms are bigger than the one we selected. Everything was impeccably clean.. In short, we were very pleased with this hotel and would stay here anytime we are lucky enough to return to Milan.
