“Pretty good overall”

The Lancaster hotel was very pleasant with friendly, helpful staff in a pretty good location. I was particularly impressed by the cleanliness - the bedroom, bathroom and communal areas were immaculate. The only downside was the double bed which was very hard and sloped towards the middle so my quality of sleep was not as good as it could have been

IWe can't say enough about the efficient, & friendly staff at this hotel. Everything is done with a smile and nothing is too much trouble! They spoke excellent English and were most helpful with our all of our needs and concerns, going the "extra mile" more than once. Our room was clean and spacious with a large marble bathroom. The breakfast buffet was excellent, consisting of eggs, juice, meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit and excellent rolls and pastries. Thank you Ruggero, Maurizio, & Treitna for making our stay so enjoyable!

Lancaster Hotel was really nice. Our room was very big. The bathroom was just huge. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely nice, friendly, and polite. They were very helpful. The breakfast very good. It's a bit pricey but you get your money's worth. The hotel is in a nice neighbourhood. Yes it's residential but I didn't find that to be a problem. My only "negative" comment would be that the Cadorna metro station is not really an 8 minute walk. it's more like a 20 - 25 minute walk. Make sure you ask them which bus you can take to get there. There's more than one and the bus stops are just a minute or two away from the hotel. From Cadorna, Milano city centre is very close. We had to take a cab a few times and it never costed more than 10 euros to get to where we wanted (Duomo or La Scala for example.) Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.

We arrived at Malpensa, so this hotel was our first experience with italian hotels. It was a good one. Clean, well located, with good air conditioning, (rare in Italy) very confortable beds (the linens and the pillows were of good quality). Breakfast was served in a very warm florentine style atmosphere, the staff was very willing to help with direcions and giving tips to the surrounding and things to do. We had a lovely stay and would come back to them if traveling back to Milano. Certainly more than a three star hotel, more than I expected.

We stayed here for two nights and found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. They gave us some very good information regarding what was happening in the City while we were there and couldn't have done more to help us enjoy ourselves. The hotel is a three star but don't let that put you off. In Italy the more stars the hotels have, the more tax they pay, so they aren't chasing the extra star they really deserve. The room was reasonably spacious but very clean with a modern bathroom with shower. Breakfast was a buffet and was more than adequate. The only downside to the hotel is that it is about 25 - 30 minutes easy walking to the castle, the nearest tourist attraction and location of restaurants etc. If you are not very mobile this could be a problem. Alternatives are taxis, 10 euros to the Duomo, or the open top bus service stops about 15 minutes walk away (provided you book on the right one). Having said that, it is the compromise for the cost. Staying in the centre of the attractions in Milan will cost at least twice as much for probably a lesser hotel - so you make your choice.

Best hotel we've stayed at in the north of Italy. It is a bit pricey but that is Milan for you. Our room was very spacious, our bathroom large (shower over bath) and we even had a small balcony overlooking the street. Couldn't fault the room although the shampoo and bath gel seemed to have been watered down. Breakfast was OK - buffet style with plenty of choice and good coffee. However, on two out of the three days the bread rolls were a little dry.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - again the best we have experienced in the north of Italy. Our return flight wasn't until late but the staff allowed us to leave our luggage and then provided a room with toilet (also shower if needed) for us to change into after a hard last day's shopping.
I would query other reviews on their timing from the centre. There is a bus stop outside the hotel (reception even provides one day travel cards at no extra price) but it does take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest metro. This, itself is a good 15 minutes walk to the Duomo - so allow 30 minutes to get to the very centre.
The area is safe to walk in. As far as restaurants are concerned avoid those around the central square - the food is good but will cost you a premium. Our advice would be to head for the Navigli area (metro to Porta Genova and then a 3 minute walk) where there are a range of restaurants to fit all wallets.
