“Beautiful fairytale-like hotel in awkward location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

The reviews are all true…this hotel is gorgeously decorated. It's like a modern cinderella castle, with really interesting decor and plus comfortable beds and surroundings. Our room had a little juliet terrace overlooking the gardens and the street, which was surprisingly quiet.

I pre-booked for my little poodle, and got a 5 euro "suite doggie" package which meant she had a little bed and bowls in the room. So cute, and nice to know she was welcome!

Dinner in the restaurant was good, but very expensive. The service was fine, but the room was dead silent! They really should turn the music up, because every guest in there felt like they needed to whisper. It was really awkward, like eating in a library.

here is where it gets weird…

We were about ten minutes walking from the Duomo [center city area], which was good…but it bears mentioning that though the location as a whole is convenient, this hotel is located right next door to a soup kitchen/homeless shelter. Every afternoon, there is a huge crowd of disenfranchised locals hanging around right in front of the hotel and surrounding park area, washing their feet AND bare bodies in the fountains [literally], peeing [and more!] in the bushes in plain view of pretty much everyone, and generally just hanging around for several hours waiting for their dinner or a room for the night or whatever the church is actually providing them. I understand that these people need this help, and I am truly glad that they are getting it…but as a young female who did a lot of sightseeing alone, I was not comfortable walking over to the monument right in front of the Chateau Monfort and being greeted by six homeless people bathing in the fountain that surrounded it.

I would probably not stay here again due to that…which is really sad, because it was a lovely hotel.

Centrally located, close to the Duomo, this hotel is a unique experience. The rooms and decor are what set it apart. The restaurant has some amazing food. Will definitely stay again when back in Milan next year.

Better not expect 5stars-lux hotel quality/service. Breakfast not remarkable at all. I know hundreds of establishments with much much beautiful breakfast buffet with quality and variety which cost less than this, so-called, "castle".
I like the concept with a difference, especially girls would love an atmosphere like fairy tales.
However standard guestrooms are boredom. Tiny dark bathroom with no windows made me suffocating. Even if some suites with themes are interesting, the price range is not right, I think.
And one more point to be mentioned --- Sauna(men&women together, means you need your bathing suits)/small swimming pool are not available in the morning! Opens only at 17:00, no sense!

Absolutely stunning hotel. Beautiful decor! Room and bathroom were lovely, unique and quite large (for Europe). Upon arrival we were asked to pull a mystery rabbit out of the hat where we found out we "won" free minibar (excluding alcohol). What a nice touch.
I can not say enough about the staff - from the lovely young woman who greeted us, checked us in and personally escorted us to our room to the very attentive staff in the breakfast area - they definitely get 5 stars.
The breakfast was a good assortment of cold selections and made to order hot items. Fresh squeezed orange juice, croissant basket and great coffee/espresso/caffe latte were presented at the table.
Free WIFI was great for checking work emails.
I would love to go back and stay for longer. We hope to return soon.

The best way to describe the decor and atmosphere of the hotel is creative luxury: explore the hotel website and this becomes instantly evident. In addition, for a metropolitan hotel, the quality and maintenance of all room fittings is excellent: very clean, well maintained, all feels new. Breakfast is very nice too with a basket of warm breads and pastries served at the table, with coffees and juices. A very nice buffet complements this.
It has to be said now that we stayed twice at the hotel. The first time we experienced some inconvenience with the allocation of the room (lower grade vs booking) and service at the restaurant. We reported this within hours after check out via the survey that the hotel issues to all guests after departure. Well, within 24 hrs we were contacted by Management for a formal apology and eventually received a gift card for a free night in the same grade of room that we had originally booked. Needless to say such a professional response from Management can only be praised: even the best sometimes get it wrong (it happens!) and in those instances customer care is king - Management at Chateau Monfort responded at best and this is truly worth a 5* praise. Well done and thank you! Marco & Carlotta

Room Tip: Best rooms are at the higher floors. I would avoid standard rooms at the ground level.

There are many reasons that this lovely hotel gets so many 5 circles for Tripadvisor ratings-all true! The hotel is beautiful in a great location. The staff is very nice. Michel at the front desk was very helpful and always a pleasure. The breakfast is great with eggs to order. Federica and Mariangela in the dining room were always so happy in the morning. What a great way to start the day!

We used the sauna and pool in the lower level was amazing. We spent the first afternoon there after traveling for a month in Italy, we needed a break and it was soooo relaxing

And the best surprise-it is a Relais et Chateau hotel. We stayed in these hotels 30 years ago on our honeymoon in France and so glad to be back at another one.

True, the atmosphere is a bit strange at first, but everything fits in the concept. Of course, not cheap, but what do people expect for 5 star in Milan... In all honesty, I would not give it 5stars, as rooms are not very big and clean (we found disposable contact lenses (3 of them!) stuck on the floor near the bed from a previous customer and one night oer bed linnen were not replaced, though we did put the card on the bed). Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and would go back.
