Chateau Monfort is a lovely little gem in the heart of Milan.
Built in a historic building and nestled into a residential neighbourhood, the hotel was almost indistinguishable from the area around it. It is at the corner of a busyish intersection, with aboveground trolleys, cars, and motorbikes alike bustling past.
We flew into Milan and were due to arrive in the morning, so I requested an early check-in beforehand which I hoped would be available. Not only was it available, we were told we were being given an upgrade to a larger room when we arrived.
Our room was tastefully and stylishly appointed, with floor-to-ceiling balcony doors letting in the light and the fresh air from the outside. The balcony was very tiny but enough to take a small step outside to look around before returning to the room.
I did a lot of research before booking at Chateau Monfort, and I have to say that the photos I saw online, especially regarding the bathroom, were exactly what I experienced when I arrived. The bathroom was lovely, with both waterfall shower head and bathtub fixtures, and fluffy, flowy shower curtains that made me feel like I was showering in a modern-day castle. And everything was very clean!
All of the staff we encountered at Chateau Monfort were friendly and polite, with greetings and smiles and offers to help with anything we needed. Pablo at the front desk, and Mark helping with the luggage were especially nice, and there was a young lady whose name I didn't catch who offered to run across the street to a local store to get us change for a large Euro bill when we needed smaller change for the taxi! They offered to go above and beyond for us, and we really appreciated that, especially as it was our first time in Milan and we didn't know a lot about how things worked.
We had an afternoon train the day we checked out, and the hotel made it easy for us to put our luggage in the bag room and go to enjoy the city until we had to return for our train, and then called a taxi for us to go to the train station.
One other thing of note is that we were THRILLED to see the TV channels in the room included CNN International in English so that we could try to gauge our location in the world and get settled in in another country. I wish we could have stayed here longer. It was a great location to stay in, with the aboveground trolley/train right outside, and only about a 15-20 minute walk from there to the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.
We had a brief and lovely time in Milan, and this was a great hotel to spend that time in.
