“Even I enjoyed it”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

I confess I'm not a museum or art gallery person but I enjoyed this gallery. The free pamphlet helped to ensure we didn't miss the "must see" paintings.

“Must see, if you are in Milan...”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

Of course we cannot compare to the Galleria fi Uffizzi in Florence which is one of the top galleries in the world, but don't miss if you are in Milan. Masterpieces like The Kiss of Hayez and also Caravaggio can be seen at the Pinacoteca di Brera. The place is also a beautifull palace and it would deserve a better infraestructure to let you spend more time there enjoying the place and the paintings. Go there and enjoy it!

“From the Convent, via Academy for the students, to the Art Gallery”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Just when You get out of the Gallery of Vittorio Emanuele II and in Via Manzoni pass the famous
Teatro alla Scala, turn after that,on the left, in Via Giuseppe Verdi, and follow this street and its sequel, named Via Brera, straight ahead toward our destination, i.e.Brera Picture Gallery or Pinacoteca di Brera. That is the main public gallery for paintings in Milan, since during the passing of so many centuries, a considerable amount of very beautiful pictures have been collected in the halls of this building.
We may count, that starting from the 1572, a convent on this site, passed in the hold of Jesuits, and after that, undergone the radical reconstruction under the lead of some arhitectects.
The Palazzo Brera was first the seat of astronomical Observatory and library, founded by Jesuits.
There was also here a very important Academy for teaching students of their art historical studies and all these gathered fine art works, represented a great deal of help to them, while they were learning.
The Pinacoteca has long been one of the principal Italy's cultural institutions.
At the centre of the first court, there is an imposing statue of Napaleon, in the guise of Mars, the peacemaker, that gives You a hint, that really artistic riches expect You in the halls of the Gallery.
Here,You can find the fine works by Andrea Mantegna,Bramantino, Bellini,Pierro della Francesca,Raphael, Bramante, Lorenzo Lotto,Tintoretto, Rubens, Correggio,Caravaggio, Titian,
Rembrant, Paolo Veronese and so many others, not less significant.
Time to visit is from Tuesday to Sunday, and work hours are from 8:30 am to 7:15 pm.
For the ticket price of 10 euros or reduced seven, You may see a real treasure of Italien renaissance art and also the Dutch school, the Flamand art, e.t.c.
Really do not hesitate and go there.

“Milan's leading art museum”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

Located on the second floor of the Academia de Bellas Artes (whose graffiti-covered first floor is a sadly run down university with classrooms, offices, and poorly maintained plaster copies of ancient statues). The museum is well laid out, empty when we visited (how nice!), and very strong in pre-Renaissance and Renaissance art, with a few modernists (Modigliani) thrown in.
