“You get what you pay for - OK but not great!”
Reviewed 17 July 2012

My boyfriend and I ate here one evening after spending a fortune in another nearby restaurant the night before, so we were looking for something cheap and cheerful. The restaurant was just down the road from our hotel so we popped in. We had parma ham for starter which was lovely and one portion was more than enough to share between the two of us. For main we both had sausage pasta with ricotta which was nice, but no more than that. The place lacks an atmosphere, it was very quiet with no background music however the lady who serves you, who I believe is the daughter of the owner, is an absolute star, she never seems to stop and is very friendly. The chef also came out and chatted with us and he was very nice too. We ordered a carafe of wine which was actually quite nice, but i would advise that they shouldn't pour it out of an industrial sized bottle with a massive 12 euros sticker on the side of it infront of everyone. When we left we got a very friendly goodbye from the dad, the daughter and the chef which was lovely. All in all if you are looking for something cheap and nice then I would recommend it but if you are looking for a little bit more then go elsewhere.

“Delicious home-style cooking & great service”
Reviewed 19 May 2012

We stumbled across this gem on the way back to our hotel, the Best Western Hotel Felice Casati, which is just down the street. We were looking for a light, simple meal on our last night in Milan and we're so glad we found Il Caminetto. The charming lady running the restaurant brought us complimentary bruschetta as entree and the food and wine we ordered were delicious and reasonably priced. The meals were well presented, unpretentious and lovely home-style Italian cooking. At the end of our meal we were offered some complimentary Limoncello which ended the evening perfectly. We highly recommend this restaurant for honest, tasty Italian food and very friendly service.

“Real Itlian food in Milan.”
Reviewed 17 May 2012

We were recommended to the Il Caminetto by the reception staff at the Best Western Hotel Felice Casati just down the road from the restaurant.

The food in the restaurant was the best of Italian food simply cooked and well presented, just like an Italian mama would make it.

The menu is quite small but I found so much on the menu I liked, I found it hard to decide what to choose. Try the homemade pasta and gnocchi. There is a small selection of wines available in the restaurant and the house wine is worth trying.

Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and gave great service. The front of house is run by the daughter of the owner and she was a delight to meet. We returned several times for dinner during our stay in Milan.

If it is good honest, well cooked, down to earth Italian food you are looking for, at very reasonable prices, in a friendly Italian restaurant, then try the Il Caminetto.
