“Quaint and lovely”

I picked this hotel on the recommendation of a colleague who had stayed there, and because it was close to the Palazzo Stelline (2 mins walk) where I was attending an exhibition.

The entrance is through a courtyard, and I had a room at the back of the building, meaning it was very quiet despite being on a fairly main road. The rooms are nicely decorated in an old fashioned way that suits the building. Everything is spotlessly clean and tidy. There lots of nice little touches, such as the little basket of chocolates in the room that was re-filled daily, baskets of magazines avaialble in the corridor in different languages etc.

Breakfast was delicious - 2 croissants, one savoury filled and one sweet, are brought to your table, along with a cappucino. I was asked without prompting if I would prefer tea (probably because I'm English!). There was a selection of nice pastries, cheeses, and chocolates also, all arranged on pretty cake stands. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Location is good for tourists - about 15 mins walk to the city centre and cathedral.

For business travellers - fast wireless broadband in room with no 'hiccups.'

TIP - if you want to see the Last Supper painting in the church 2 doors down, you need to book a ticket well in advance. Paolo kindly attenpted to help me book one (I e-mailed him 2 weeks in advance of my trip) but unfortunately it was too late.

Loved this hotel. As a lone businee traveller it was a cosy relaxing place to come back to, but it would also be nice for a romantic break!

We spent in Milan 4 days and we stayed in this little charming hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we weren't satisfied for our choise: the hotel is located inside a private housing estate. The entrace of the building was gloomy and dark.
This was our first impression, which was wrong. The hotel was charming and overlooked a fantastic italian garden. They prepared us a room garden-view with a little balcony.
The hotel seemed an oasis in the mess of Milan. The Duomo is only 5 minutes by foot from the hotel. Moreover the receptionist, Mr. Paolo was extremely kind and patient with us. He suggested us good restaurants, museum and managed to reserve two tickets for the Last Supper.

My wife found this hotel in one of the travel books and I confirmed the quality on Trip Advisor. Several other reviewers also gave it high marks, and we want to add ours to that list. Easy location from either the metro or tram (the tram stops right in front of the hotel). Located next door to the church with "The Last Supper" mural...the owners were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. The room was nice and cozy and the bathroom had all the stuff we needed. Breakfast was decent and the coffee was good. If we were to come back to Milan, we would check this hotel first. Also, very fair price for what we received.

It took us ages to find a hotel that was (more or less) in budget in Milan but which wouldn't be too far away from the city centre. We found this hotel in a guide book and then went on to their website to find out more. It was quite hard to get them to respond to emails sent via the reservation page on their website and we eventually phoned them. I think this might be the best way to get in touch as the hotel then gave us a direct email address and communications were much more straightforward thereafter.

The hotel's a bit quirky in that it's set in an old apartment block with a central courtyard - but we quite liked this. The room was fairly standard size, nicely furnished and clean. Plenty of room for storing things, etc. Bathroom was quite large and we had a balcony overlooking a garden at the back of the hotel. The breakfast is continental style, croissants, nice cakes, pastries, cheese, jam, etc - certainly enough to keep you going until you could find somewhere to have a restorative, late-morning cappucino whilst seeing the sights.

The thing that really made it for us was the helpfulness of the staff. They booked us onto the English tour of the Last Supper (which is about 1 minute away from their front door) prior to our arrival (you need to give them plenty of notice for this I think - we gave them about 6 weeks) and arranged a taxi to collect us at Malpensa. We were also really pleased with the restaurant recommendations given by Mr Paolo - all within walking distance, and full, it seemed to us, of locals rather than tourists. It stretched our language skills a bit but was worth it.

Finally, the hotel is in a really good location for getting into the centre and for transport. The tram stops on the road outside the hotel and there are metro stops nearby. I know some people complained about the noise of the tram in other reviews - whilst we could certainly hear it from time to time, it didn't keep us awake. If you haven't got a heavy bag you could probably walk to Cadorna station (approx 10 mins on foot) for the Malpensa express. We did a lot of walking during our two days of sightseeing but it's easy to find your way into town - probably about 20 mins on foot. And there are some fantastic, wee churches in the neighbourhood - no more than 10 mins away from the hotel. As well as Santa Maria della Grazie, would recommend San Maurizio (sp?), San Ambrogio and San Vittore al Corpo.

  • Liked — The helpfulness of the staff.
  • Disliked — The difficulty in making the first contact with them.

Small hotel tucked inside a courtyard on Corso Magenta. There is an easily missed sign outside mixed in w/other business signs. I chose this hotel as it was very close to Santa Maria della Grazie and w/in walking distance of the Navigli and the Duomo. I was disappointed with first appearances upon entering and with the bareness of the room. You enter the courtyard and walk past garbage pails (the building is a residential one) and there were neither floor coverings nor curtains in the room. There was nothing lux about the room or bathroom. Totally clean but utilitarian. We had a balcony that overlooked the back garden which was planted w/fresh pansies (in December!) and bare trees. I bet it looks great in the spring w/the wisteria in bloom.
Reception was extremely pleasant and helpful. They were happy to attempt dinner reservations for us and reserve a taxi for our trip to Malpensa.
The breakfast room was decorated w/beautiful fabrics and accessories. The food was yummy and plentiful. The residents above our room (# 7) were very noisy, lots of stomping and running throughout the evening, sounded like children. The hallways were quiet. There is an elevator but the hotel is only up one flight.
I would not stay here again as there are so many hotels in Milan at similar prices. This is a fine hotel, just nothing special. I had hoped for more.

The location was good, but the facilities for Parking were
non existant, you had to park a block away and pay
25 Euros a day!!!! on top of the 200 Euro a night.
The room was depressing, noisy, and badly decorated,
and the bathroom, was really, really small, and the shower
space was designed for a 19th century human being.
The only good side was the friendliness of the staff.
Breakfast was not good, and the breakfast room either.
Would not go back!!!

What a great place to begin our trip to Italy .... the charming accommodations, the location and the staff were simply the best!
The owner, Mario, gave us both a warm welcome and send off, as did Paolo in reception and the staff in the breakfast room. I'd recommend this lovely place to anyone who appreciates the charm of Italy and it's warm hospitality .... bravo!
