My husband, son and I experienced a very nice 3-night stay here in mid-May. Yes, there was still some construction going on in the middle courtyard area; I would definitely suggest requesting a garden view room. However, this fact is far outweighed by the warmth and hospitality with which Mario and Chiara run their hotel. There is no doubt that they genuinely enjoy having you as their guest AND sharing Milano with you. The 'petit cafe' is excellent ~ Fabian makes an excellent cup of capuccino and he, too, is sincerely warm and happy to engage in light conversation (Italian, Spanish, and a smidgen of English)! The location is absolutely perfect for going everywhere ... on foot for those who are wanting the exercise, or by streetcar right outside the front entry. If you are looking for the Ritz, this isn't it. But if you want a more personal experience in a historical building, look no further!

If you are looking for charm and value in Milan I think this hotel is a good choice. The location is wonderful - you can walk to the Cordona train station (where the Malpensa express comes in). The Duomo is about a 15 minute walk. The hotel occupies the back section of an old court yarded building. The rooms in the back overlook gardens and are incredibly quiet and peaceful. You would not know you were in Milan. Unfortunately, at the moment, the building the hotel is in is having lofts added to it so when we arrived the entire building was covered in scaffolding and a large cement mixer was in the courtyard so be forewarned. I don't know how long it will be this way. However, this did not mar our stay in any way other than aesthetically. You would want to request a room overlooking the gardens, not the courtyard, because of this. We (2 women) stayed in a room which was twin bedded with antique furniture. (Room #5) It was a bit short on space for us. The mattresses were quite soft and seemed old though we slept fine on them. The room had a small balcony with a table and chair. The breakfast was adequate. The staff were quite friendly and did speak English. There are trams running right on the street you are on. I have attached pictures of our room.

Had a wonderful stay here for four nights in mid-April. We had intended it to be no more than a place to get over jetlag, but it turned out to be much more. A helpful, friendly staff, clean and pleasant rooms, a good breakfast, and quiet -- all in a great location within a block of the Last Supper, two blocks from a Metro stop, and easy walking to many sights and good restaurants of Milano. Our room looked over the neighboring garden and courtyards and was away from the noise of traffic.

One downside is that they are doing some renovation work in the inner courtyard, but our room was away from that side and we didn't hear a thing. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.

My husband and I were looking for a reasonably priced hotel that was convenient to the main sights of Milan, and Locanda Leonardo was exactly what we wanted. The location is great: a 15- or 20-minute walk to the Duomo, one block (literally!) from the Last Supper, and just a few blocks from the Malpensa Express (the train to the airport). Our first-floor room was large, high-ceilinged, and spotlessly clean. The interior courtyard garden provided a lovely view. Breakfast was good, with one of the best cups of cappuccino of our trip, and the breakfast room itself was cozy and pleasant. The staff welcomed us warmly on arrival and were very friendly and helpful; they booked a dinner reservation for us and let us leave our bags for most of the morning after checkout so we could explore the city without our luggage in tow. Overall, a great find in central Milan. I would highly recommend it.

Just completed two nights at this hotel with my wife and daughter. I was a little put off when I arrived because of the scafolding and clutter of a building exterior renovation that is underway, but was very happy with our stay here. The location is superb - a very short walk from the train station that was a direct shot from Malpensa Airport, as well as easy access to Duomo, Castello Sforzesco and the Technology Museum. We found the folks who run the place to be extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple but good. Rooms were in good shape and we had no issues (we stayed in #12). Would stay here again.

In the midst of Milan lies a true treasure. Antica Locanda Leonardo is one of the most charming boutique hotels in all of Italy. Mario, the proprietor, is exception - helpful, charming, kind. And the rest of the staff aims to please, as well.

The rooms are sizable by European standards, with hardwood floors, modern fixtures (in the bathroom, too) and air conditioning the works quite well (something you shouldn't take for granted in Italy). My room (#11) offered doors that open onto a small terrace, complete with a bistro table and chair, overlooking the charming garden patio below. You just don't feel like you're in a city.

The continental buffet breakfast is more than adequate, and the prices completely reasonable for a big European city. There's no elevator (but Mario will carry your bags, anyway) ... but this truly is a jewel of Milan.

Stayed at the Antica Locanda in Via San Tomaso. Close to main shopping area and sites like the Doumo and La Scala(which was closed for some refurbishing. Ate in Papa Francesco's in a side street off Galleries Emmanuelle. Traditional Milanese food Osso Bucco with Saffron risotto<excellent but quite expensive for what it was. For real value for money keep your eyes peeled for the small cafe's where the locals nip in for a coffee before going to work as a lot of them do lunches like pasta with tomato and basil or lasagne. We followed this tip and had a lunch with a bottle of water for 14 euro. You could go to the top floor of La Rinacentre(large department store with loads of bargains to be had) and have a lunch there for about 15 euro for 2 people. Good value and very clean.
The Antica Locanda is a comfotable hotel but some of the rooms are not air conditioned making it difficult to get a good nights sleep if the weather is really hot. Go for a top floor room with a terrace if you are planning to stay more than one night. They only take cash for the accomodation and you can either take breakfast in your room for 9euro each or you could go out for it to the pedestian area which has some nice pavement cafe's and do evening meals as well. I can reccomend a visit to this lovely city and a must visit shopping site is the Armani shop, selling everything from flowers to chocolates, fantastic japanese restaurant called Nobu
