My partner and I stayed at this hotel for three nights recently with my nephew. We chose the hotel as it was close enough to San Siro stadium for the football but also within walking distance of the city centre, the cathedral and all the shops.
We were very fortunate in that Corso Magenta is on the no 16 tram line which runs from the centre straight to San Siro - pure luck and not something the hotel advertises.
We had taken note of the previous entries warning of the building works, which are still progressing but rather slowly. I'm sure you wouldn't be allowed to have access through such a building site in this country (UK) but it's clearly not a problem in Italy. As we had rooms on the garden side and were anyway staying over the weekend, we were not troubled by noise but I am sure it would be a much nicer hotel without scaffolding and builders waste outside the front door.
The family who own the hotel were charming and helpful. The man who covers the nights and prepare the breakfasts (standard italian breakfasts with croissant, yoghuts, juice and good coffee plus cakes) was helpful and friendly and extremely nice to my young nephew.
We found Milan to be a very expensive city compared with other parts of Italy - a meal for three of us without being too extravagant was about 100 euros but the quality of food was excellent and you could spend a great deal more if you also went shopping in the fancy outlets.
Our double room was 200 euros a night for two people B&B. The single room was 85 euros a night. That seems rather expensive compared with other hotels we have stayed in but probably comparable with Rome and Venice.
If you stay in Milan, be sure to go up on to the roof of the cathedral. It is one of the glories of Europe, not just for the views but to see the wonderful carved marble which has recently been cleaned. La Scala is also a must and the footie at San Siro was brilliant fun. We also did the stadium tour which was heaven for a 12 year old - you can visit the changing rooms and learn some of the history of the stadium in as many languages as you wish.

We were really disappointed, for 20 euro more we could have had a beautiful room right next to the Duomo. The courtyard was covered in scaffolding, either remodeling or cleaning. The room was decorated with bargain basement furniture. As a matter of fact, the room was sort of like a basement, very little light and halfway underground. The best part about this hotel was that the manager was very helpful and got us tickets to see Da Vinci's "Last Supper" and believe me, we were having NO success in obtaining them on our own! We were very thankful for that!

We stayed at the hotel May 22nd for 1 night only.

It's a little difficult to find, so bring a map to show the taxi driver. But once you do find it, you'll find a real beauty of a hotel in the middle of downtown. Very small & quaint, this 'boutique' style hotel is great for all walks of life. The owners took very good care of us, including bringing out a bottle of wine & some appetizers while we sat in the secluded garden in the back (there was a small charge on our bill for it, but it was pretty insignificant - it was nice just to order something & not worry about getting hosed on the price of it. Price wasn't even mentioned when we ordered it).

The rooms were nice in a classic, old charm way. But the bathrooms were definitely modern - and spacious.

It's very close to everything you'd want to do & see in Milan, including The Last Supper. They even booked reservations for us. They booked our dinner reservation, as well, and we were very happy with their choice. Breakfast is included, and it's very nice, but for North American people it might be a little different. Unless you normally have deli sandwiches and cheese for breakfast. But that's an Italian breakfast.

All in all, a great little find in a big city.

My husband, son and I experienced a very nice 3-night stay here in mid-May. Yes, there was still some construction going on in the middle courtyard area; I would definitely suggest requesting a garden view room. However, this fact is far outweighed by the warmth and hospitality with which Mario and Chiara run their hotel. There is no doubt that they genuinely enjoy having you as their guest AND sharing Milano with you. The 'petit cafe' is excellent ~ Fabian makes an excellent cup of capuccino and he, too, is sincerely warm and happy to engage in light conversation (Italian, Spanish, and a smidgen of English)! The location is absolutely perfect for going everywhere ... on foot for those who are wanting the exercise, or by streetcar right outside the front entry. If you are looking for the Ritz, this isn't it. But if you want a more personal experience in a historical building, look no further!

If you are looking for charm and value in Milan I think this hotel is a good choice. The location is wonderful - you can walk to the Cordona train station (where the Malpensa express comes in). The Duomo is about a 15 minute walk. The hotel occupies the back section of an old court yarded building. The rooms in the back overlook gardens and are incredibly quiet and peaceful. You would not know you were in Milan. Unfortunately, at the moment, the building the hotel is in is having lofts added to it so when we arrived the entire building was covered in scaffolding and a large cement mixer was in the courtyard so be forewarned. I don't know how long it will be this way. However, this did not mar our stay in any way other than aesthetically. You would want to request a room overlooking the gardens, not the courtyard, because of this. We (2 women) stayed in a room which was twin bedded with antique furniture. (Room #5) It was a bit short on space for us. The mattresses were quite soft and seemed old though we slept fine on them. The room had a small balcony with a table and chair. The breakfast was adequate. The staff were quite friendly and did speak English. There are trams running right on the street you are on. I have attached pictures of our room.

Had a wonderful stay here for four nights in mid-April. We had intended it to be no more than a place to get over jetlag, but it turned out to be much more. A helpful, friendly staff, clean and pleasant rooms, a good breakfast, and quiet -- all in a great location within a block of the Last Supper, two blocks from a Metro stop, and easy walking to many sights and good restaurants of Milano. Our room looked over the neighboring garden and courtyards and was away from the noise of traffic.

One downside is that they are doing some renovation work in the inner courtyard, but our room was away from that side and we didn't hear a thing. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.

My husband and I were looking for a reasonably priced hotel that was convenient to the main sights of Milan, and Locanda Leonardo was exactly what we wanted. The location is great: a 15- or 20-minute walk to the Duomo, one block (literally!) from the Last Supper, and just a few blocks from the Malpensa Express (the train to the airport). Our first-floor room was large, high-ceilinged, and spotlessly clean. The interior courtyard garden provided a lovely view. Breakfast was good, with one of the best cups of cappuccino of our trip, and the breakfast room itself was cozy and pleasant. The staff welcomed us warmly on arrival and were very friendly and helpful; they booked a dinner reservation for us and let us leave our bags for most of the morning after checkout so we could explore the city without our luggage in tow. Overall, a great find in central Milan. I would highly recommend it.
