This hotel is 150m away from the metro stop 'Lodi T.I.B.B' which is in turn only 4 stops (on the yellow line) away from Duomo (the main square with the huge cathedral and the Galleria) - so easily accessible. Metro tickets go from €1.50 - a 48 hour ticket (which allows access to buses, metro trains and trams) was €8.
Upon arriving at the hotel at 00:10, we were greeted by awesomely friendly staff who were patient with my Italian, and spoke good English anyway. We were upgraded to a superior room which was very nice. The facilities on site included: a swimming pool, steam room, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. The passes were €15 per person which allowed you to access them all, but we were given free passes by a lovely man, Bernie.
The meals we had there were the buffet breakfast which were very good... And included in the price of our room.
Wifi was free in the lobby so we didn't bother paying to have it in our room. There was also a bar and a restaurant which we didn't visit.
All in all this hotel was excellent and we would definitely visit again.

Dear Jack R,

we thank you for your kind feed back, which being so detailed it will be very useful for other travellers.

The only thing we would like to specify is that the entrance to the SPA costs € 10 per day for one person and €15,00 for 2 people, it gives you access to all the facilities you have described here above. While the gym is free of charge. We always advise to have a loo on our web site in order to find special offers which include the free entrance to the SPA and many other benefits available during several times during the year.

We are happy to see that for your next visit to Milan you will chose our hotel again, therefore we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kindest Regards.

We have just come back from the hotel on our first trip to Milano and would whole-heartedly recommend it. We stayed as a family of four (two young children) in one of the two bedroom suites. The suite was spacious and well equipped. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. All of the public areas were nice and were clean and the pool area was lovely. The location is great, a little away from the main noise and chaos, but within a block of the yellow metro line and only 4 stops from the Duomo.

Most importantly though, the staff is fabulous and makes you feel welcome from beginning to end. The concierge service is especially great. We received great local tips (excellent restaurant advice from Bernie) and they were great with the kids. We had one minor mishap regarding whether the spa was included in our package, but the duty manager gave us passes for the duration of our stay and it was sorted without any fuss.

We would recommend the hotel to anyone and would definitely stay again on any future trip to Milano. Was a 5-star hotel by any UK measure!

Room Tip: The suites are great for families!

Very good hotel, you can feel the history in this hotel, and the staff certainly still acts as if it were the golden years of Italian tourism, but it lacks the modern facilities to be a truly great hotel. It is reasonably priced but certainly not a bargain. There is an indoor swimming pool. The breakfast buffet is ok, but could be better, it lacks a bit of local/Italian flair. It is situated near public transport, only ten minutes from the centre.

The Grand Visconti is a good, luxury, hotel with very nice rooms and facilities. It is a pretty large hotel though and seems to host lots of conferences etc, so does feel a bit impersonal because of that.

Rooms and cleanliness are very good. Unfortunately I did not have time to use the spa/gym, but pictures looked very good too, and will try to use those facilities a next time.

Service of some of the staff in the hotel is something that can be improved though. For example, when arriving at the hotel by taxi with luggage, the hotel doorman asked the taxi driver to open the boot of the car, but then just walked off and did not assist me or the taxi driver with getting my luggage out of the car and taking it inside. That certainly did not make a good first impression of the hotel, but luckily the staff at check-in made up for that with their professionality and friendliness.

A luxury hotel like this should really provide wifi to all of their guests for free throughout the whole hotel and not just in the lobby area. Nowadays, wifi should be just as standard as electricity and should not be charged for in any hotel, especially not in upmarket hotels (it is actually usually cheaper hotels that provide it for free!).

Breakfast was of good quality and had a reasonable selection of food and drinks. Freshly squeezed juices would be a nice improvement though, and also a slightly bigger selection of whole-grain bread. I did not particularly like the decor and set-up of the breakfast room as it just lacked atmosphere due to the large, completely open, area.

When asking for a taxi upon leaving the hotel, the concierge actually proposed a car service provided by the hotel itself, but the charge for that was about double the cost of a regular taxi and also regular taxis show up within a few minutes.

Good afternoon peri&rini,

we would like to thank you for leaving your feedback which is very important to us.

We are sorry the first impression was not a good one, however we would like to reassure you that normally our doormen and luggage porters are very professional.

As far as the internet access, the management is reviewing the actual contracts with the provider's company to see what we can do.

We have also passed on your comments to our food and beverage manager regarding the breakfast room.

Finally it is normal procedure to offer our private car service when a taxi is asked, obviously we also explain the difference in price.

Hoping that we will have you again as our welcomed guest at the Grand Visconti Palace Hotel,

Kind Regards.

We have just come home from staying in this fabulous hotel.I would highly recommend this Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful there is a supermarket just left of the hotel about one kilometre away good for snacks and drinks, as the bar was very expensive but the bar staff were lovely. Our room was very stylish and comfortable great sleeps no noise.Breakfast room was lovely also but the hot food was a little cold but the staff also were great.

Good afternoon Ms Irelandgeraldine,

Thank you for taking the time to write your comment about your stay.

We will pass it on to our Food and beverage manager as well, however we would like to let you know that the bar prices are very similar to all the other four stars hotels here in Milan.

We are glad you noticed the kindness of our staff, who we are really proud of.

Hoping to seeing you back here at the Grand Visconti Palace Hotel,
Kind regards,

We stayed at the Grand Visconti for 5 nights over Christmas and New Year. The hotel was excellent ~ great breakfast, very stylish room (which was immaculately clean) and very friendly and helpful staff. Bar was a bit pricey, so we bought in our own wine.
The Spa, Pool and Gym area was great for a short stay holiday.
Ideal location for the Metro or it took us about 1/2 hour to walk into the city.
Would highly remmend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 536 was very nice and lovely and quiet

We stayed in both M Gallery Collection hotels in Milan in the same week so it made us possible to compare :
1. Location : Uptown is closer tot the city center then GV but it still takes a tiring and not so interesting walk to the city. Keep in mind that walking to the center is one thing , but you need to do a lot of walking in town itself. I do not understand why the hotel advises Missori as metrostation since Croceta on the same line is just behind the corner. If you are planning to take the metro there is no big difference between both hotels. GV is just two stops further. There are a lot more dining opportunities in the GV neighbourhood. Up vs GV : 1-1
2. Rooms : in both hotels we got an upgrade. The junior suite at Up was nice but actualy not that big, but has 2 TV's. View at the 12th floor was at the start a bit disappointing (no view on the Duomo ) but we got used to it. Watching the smoking chimneys all over Milan in the morning was great. In comparison we prefered the magnificent room at the GV. It felt like living in a Palace. Up vs GV : 1-2
3.Service : Both hotels had a great service. We asked two times to speak to the concierge at Uptown in order to get information about train reservation to Venice but always got the answer there was no concierge. Strangely enough there was an (empty) concierge department in clear view. I read on tripadvisor that other people had no problem to make a reservation through the concierge at GV. Up vs GV : 1-3
4. Hotel in general : The GV had a lot more space to offer then Uptown. Besides that they had a great wellness area where Uptown has none. Up vs GV : 1-4.
Conclusion : both hotels are great, but next time in Milan we would opt for the Grand Visconti Palace.

Dear Misseghers,

we thank you for your very nice and original review; we have appreciated it so much!

Our hotels are quite different from each other but both hotels offer a high level of quality and service.
Grand Visconti Palace is an elegant city resort situated a few minutes from the city centre with 172 rooms (including some exclusive suites), a large Italian-style garden, a famous wellness centre with a 120-square-meter indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art congress centre with 14 meeting rooms and the refined "Al V piano-Attico gourmet" restaurant.
Instead Uptown Palace is an exclusive property in which elegance, warmth and modernity go hand in hand harmoniously, providing the most seductive of comforts. Located a short walk from the cathedral the hotel has 158 sober and elegant rooms, the modern Uptown Restaurant – famous for its traditional Italian dishes –, the Up Cafè, a cosy corner in which to unwind and the conference centre. We have just improved our concierge service and the wellness area will open in a few months: maybe this could change the final score!

Looking forward to seeing you again at the Grand Visconti Palace or at the Uptown Palace.

Kind Regards,
