“Junior Suite Great Value For A Family Visit”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Excellent and welcoming hotel, well appointed suites, in very accessible location near Lodi T.I.B.B. Buy a metro pass and the whole of Milan is within minutes via metro, bus or tram.
Real bonus for this hotel is the good sized pool and spa which provide much needed respite if you've been out pounding the pavements seeing the sights all day.
As befits a hotel of this type you'll be better off paying slightly extra for the rooms and getting breakfast/wifi included (ad hoc price of breakfast for one in hotel fed 4 at one of the local cafes.)
There are a number of decent, restaurants nearby offering better value than most of the central eateries we viewed.
Staff most attentive and helpful.

I recall that this hotel was previously a cookie factory and restored into a hotel in the early 20th century; you couldn't tell though! My family and I stayed here in late june and overall we had a fantastic experience.
Originally, our family was surprised at how "uncentral" it was, although we soon found it was 2 minuets away from the very centre of Milan. The exterior of the hotel looks very outdated, and the reception is much the same.
The check in seemed fairly stream lined comparative to similar hotels. But unlike other competitors your luggage arrives practically instantly. We stayed in a junior suite.
The suite was originally made for 2 not 4 and my brother and I "lucked out" by getting the double bed, whereas my parents were paired with the apparently springy sofa-bed. There where 2 bathrooms, surprising considering it was meant to house 2 people. One bathroom had a whirlpool bath. It was very loud.
I would definitely stay again given the oporunity.

Dear Ireviewchild,

thank you for your feedback.

It is true the building was once a mill and infact we kept the original shape. We celebrated our tenth anniversary this year.

As far as the suite you stayed in, by your description, we can say you had an executive suite, therefore perhaps a free upgrade.
The junior suite is an open plan suite with the master bedroom and a living corner with just one bathroom, whilst our executive suites have a master bedroom with a bathroom with jaguzzi and a separate living room with a second bathroom with the shower.

All our suites can accomodate from two to four guests as they all have a sofa bed for two.
However another option could be to book two adjoing or connecting rooms.

We hope to have you as one our guests at the Grand Visconti Palace Hotel in the near future,

Kind Regards

We stayed here last minute. Great double rooms for our family of 4 - exceptional value. Easy 4 stop metro ride into the Duomo etc. staff were helpful. We only ate breakfast so can't judge the food so much. Had to wear swimming caps in the indoor pool, which made for a few laughs with the kids

After an 8 hour flight, our room was ready when we checked in around 1pm. The concierge, Bernie, was very helpful! He helped us find a place to get an international SIM card for our phones and gave us great recommendations for dinner reservations. We stayed for 2 nights, but the hotel would have been wonderful for a longer stay as well.

This is a great and very reasonably priced hotel in Milan. The hotel itself is opulent, clean and very inviting. I had a suite which was a big size for a European hotel. The furnishings are of excellent quality and in great condition. The staff are very courteous and hospitable too. The morning breakfast buffet is great with many options, great quality food and seating outdoors facing the hotel gardens.

There were just a few minor issues which the hotel could do to make a stay even nicer. The turn down service is welcomed but should be better as the housekeeping staff did not make the bed during turndown or empty the garbage cans. They left some nice chocolates but didn't really do what a turndown requires. Also, the WiFi situation is bizarre. I had free WiFi throughout my stay because I booked a suite but to use the WiFi in the lobby, you got a password which was valid for 2 hours. After that, you can get another password for the next two hours and so on. In fact, there was a stack of about 50 passwords at the front desk for anyone to take. Why not just make WiFi free for everyone all the time? Also, alarms were going off in the room at various times for no reason.

The neighborhood is on the fringes of the center of Milan which was fine with me and still accessible to everything.

A suite was very reasonably priced compared to other 4 star hotels in Milan and I would definitely stay here again.

Travelling with the family we needed two rooms. As it was a suite at this hotel was a little more than one room in other more central hotels. We know that some of the reviews praise the location. We cannot agree because on arrival the location looks and is disappointing in itself. It is not a city central or picturesque spot. However it is very close to the tube and then only three or four quick stops from Duomo in the middle the city. In any even , once inside this is irrelevant and then the hotel comes into its own. We were surprised to discover it was only converted into a hotel in 2001because it is in the Grand Style of a more traditional city hotel rather than boutigue modern. Our rooms were spacious, clean, well appointed and stylish. The suite comprised two adjoining rooms with two en-suite (one shower one whirl pool bath). On room was intended as a sitting room so had a sofa bed which was a little soft for adults (but fine for children).
We had a snack in the bar one evening which was tasty and well presented. We did not make use of the spa but the facilities seemed impressive from the indoor photographs. Breakfast was a good continental buffet. The staff were helpful and attentive. On site parking is available. Overall we considered the hotel to offer absolutely outstanding value. Were it in London you would easily pay twice the price for what we had - 4 or 5 star luxury on a 2 or 3 star budget. No hesitation in recommending tis as long as you don't want views of central Milan from your windows.

Room Tip: The wifi only allows one user at a time.
