“Lots of Excellence, but some noise and service issues”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2010

There's much to like about the Park Hyatt Milan, but also a few problems. The location is marvelous, right by Duomo Square. The decor is very upscale, keeping with Milan's style. Some of the service, like the breakfast lounge, is excellent. The rooms are furnished very well; see the photo.
Still, there are a few flaws that move this down to a 4 rating. First, when I arrived, about 10 PM, there was no one at the checkin desk. For a luxury hotel, this is surprising. Later on the trip, I also got perfunctory service from the Concierge when asking about tourist directions.
Also, there were some noise issues with my room. I know the hotel was full, and I had one of the worst rooms - first floor, street side. I could hear some cars and shouting from the street. This could be helped by making the windows non-opening - it's too close to the street to see much, anyway.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your comments on your stay that are always helpful to improve the level of our service and standards.

We are very happy that you enjoyed and liked our hotel but we would like also to apologize if our concierge gave you the impression of not being spontaneous and helpful.
I will share your comments with them even if I am also surprised as they are usually very appreciated by our guests.

We look forward to welcoming you back at Park Hyatt Milano.

Warmest greetings.

The hotel manages a refined glamour - minimalist, yet luxe. Yes, it is a 5* hotel chain, but with its acres of travertine and soft gold lighting, it still manages to evoke a sense of place. And what a great place it is - situated in the heart of the city, adjacent to the Galleria, a perfect base for seeing the city and of course, shopping.

We stayed in a roomy and very comfortable junior suite, which had a marvellous bathroom. Although we liked the room, my husband had previously stayed in a deluxe double, and felt that the extra room in the junior suite did not add much to the experience. The interesting 'antique' finish on the wall was chipping slightly in a few places, and I am wondering how well it will wear over time.

Although the hotel was extremely busy (full) when we checked in, necessitating a slight delay, this was handled graciously. Service was mostly attentive and obliging, though some of the male staff in the lobby and bar seemed more conscious than was necessary of how great they looked striding purposefully in their slim dark suits. But, hey, it is Milan. Concierge restaurant recommendations were spot-on.

Breakfast in the beautiful cupola was included in our rate, and it was pleasant without being exceptional. The coffee was excellent.

A few minor gripes, which serve to remind you that it is a corporate hotel chain, after all. This was the only hotel on our trip to have charged for internet access, which is surely excessive considering the hefty room rates (is this what The Economist meant when it referred to hotels charging British Airways prices for the room, with RyanAir charges for the extras?). Although we appreciated the 'welcome back' bottle of wine and chocolates, in the sweltering July heat it would have been lovely to have complimentary bottled water offered during the day (not just as part of the turn down service).

Overall though, it was a very good - though expensive - experience and we would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for contemporary style in the midst of a most stylish city.

We are very happy that you liked the design of our hotel and particularly the level of the service you experienced.

Thank you also for the useful suggestions regarding internet: in fact we are evaluating with our Company to have it free for all the guests.

Looking forward to welcoming you back.

Luxury boutique hotel in the center of Milan (near Victor Emmanuel Gallery and Cathedral Square). Very professional and helpful staff. Large rooms (sofa, LCD TV, work desk), very clean. The bathroom tub and shower and branded shampoo, shower gel. Very nice spa (gym, sauna, whirlpool). I highly recommend, the only drawback is price.

To start off with - it's one of the best hotels in Italy. Arrived on a busy friday afternoon using their limousine service (taxi would have been 100 euros from MXP airport anyway). Check-in was smooth and efficient, booked Park Deluxe King and received no further upgrade. Their rates are pretty high (610 euros per night) but what do you expect from a luxury hotel in a major European city... Diamond amenity was a nice bottle of red Italian wine and some cookies. The room itself is nice, spacious and beautifully furnished. You can notice the hotel was designed by Ed Tuttle, who did some noticeable work for the Park Hyatt Vendôme and the Aman resorts. Every staff member I approached was continuously friendly and caring. Their english skills are good, most of them have an Italian accent though. Compared to other hotels and Park Hyatts in particular, their public spaces are relatively small but beautiful. Breakfast buffet at the Cupola is of excellent quality and quite memorable. Most of the important sights are within walking distance - the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio minutes away. Their concierges (Cles d'Ors) are superb and recommended good restaurants, which fitted our taste. Didn't test them with some out-of-this-world requests though. Had cocktails and lunch on their terrace and can certainly recommend doing that. One of the best places to spend some time in Milan.

Just spent a night at the Park Hyatt Milan and all I can say is: great.

Perfect service. Spotless room, corridors. Everything is flawless and smells divine. Every single staff member will salute you. The restaurant has very good food: inventive Italian food far from bolognese sauce, tomato sauce, ragout and fritatte. The lobby restaurant and perfect for a quick tasty bite. I had 15 mn for lunch, I ordered a artichoke salad and, as promised, all was served, eaten and paid within 15 mn. And I'm still dreaming of that salad now for it was fantastic! I had in room breakfast. It was "just" ok. The croissant were dry and not freshly baked in the hotel obviously. The rest was good like the amazing marmalade.

The rooms have high ceiling. They're very intimate maybe too intimate due to the very soft lighting (in the room and everywhere) I could understand people who'd not like it. It is top notch furniture and deco design. My room (junior or exec suite) was very relaxing and the huge bathroom was as big as the bedroom itself. The only down side is that there's no closet. Just hangers in the bathroom. Don't go with lots of cloths or you might have a problem even to store the suitcases. The TV are not flat screen, they're old B&O. Some pieces of furniture like the chairs could need a little bit of a "rejuvenation".

All this perfection comes with a price of course but 5* hotel in Italy are always very expensive but in poor conditions, living on their reputation. The Park Hyatt is one of the few exceptions with the Eden in Rome.

If you can afford to stay at the Park Hyatt Milan, go for it. If you like classic perfect 5* hotels, go for the Grand hotel et de Milan.

Again, this hotel is great.

Dear Sir,
we would like to thank you very much for your wonderful comments but also for your useful remarks.
We are very happy and proud that you liked the hotel, our location and particularly our service and this is surely the best compliments for a Hotel Manager.I am very sorry if the croissants were dry and I will speak with the pastry chef but I want also assure you that they are made by the hotel. Unfortunatelly this time not very well. As far as the B&O TV, we would like to inform you that we have already started to change with a flat and bigger screen.
Looking forward to welcoming you again,
warmest regards

After reading the reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor, I knew I had to stay here on my recent trip to Italy with my two college-age nieces. I used all the Hyatt Gold Passport points I had to stay here one night since I couldn't have afforded their usual rates. It was worth every point and then some! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like royalty! The room was fantastic and the bathroom was bigger than most of the rooms in my townhouse. The location can't be beat, and the service is impeccable. We stayed here on our first night of 12 in Italy and every other place we stayed paled in comparison. I hope to return someday, and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone visiting Milano!
