Walked in, saw the room and booked myself another hotel (lost 3 nights worth of stay). Did not feel safe as there were suspicious people hanging around and in the hotel, room was dark and dated and also major road works going on outside the window (late night). Location is ideal though.

In a nutshell the only real reason to be at this hotel is its location. Less than a minute walk from the Duomo, food options, the Rinascente Mall and the Vittorio Emanuelle Gallery and plenty of other shopping options - accessibility to this hotel is unmatched. The Milan Hop off Hop On bus also stops right in front of the Duomo and less than a minute walk.

On the flip side the rooms are small. The decor was dated and beds were two single beds put together. However, room was clean and the bathroom was almost the size of the room. Toiletries were average. If you do not intend to spend a lot of time in the room then this hotel is absolutely perfect.

The staff was hit and miss. Our welcome was cold but the lady at the reception in the morning after was chirpy and very helpful. Breakfast staff was also cold. Having said that, you do not need too much staff inputs in Milan.

Breakfast itself was the standard Italian fare with croissants, toast, yoghurt, nutella, butter, two types of juices and freshly made coffee for vegetarians.

The wi fi was not included and we read that it could be accessed for Euro 5 per device for 24 hours. We paid ~Euro 70 for one night for 2 which we found was good value for staying right in the heart of Milan.

The location, very near the Duomo, is the best thing of the hotel.
The hotel is old and rooms need a renew. Breakfast is basic, croissants, cheese, yogurt, but it is ok. You can ask for a cappuccino that is good! The breakfast room is very small, so if you want to leave early, wake up or you will wait a lot for a table. Personal staff is nice and speak English.
It you don't look for luxury and have few time to visit the city, it is a good option.

For the location and the price I don't think you could get any better in the whole of Milan. Literally 1 minute walk to the Duomo. Rooms were what you expect for a 3 star hot and the bathroom is huge. Wifi is not included which should just be a standard these days. Expensive at 10 euro per device per day.

Have to comment on the reception staff. The younger guy was extremely friendly, however the older guy and the lady who we encountered were some of the rudest and most arrogant people I have ever come across. Especially if you are working in hospitality surely a smile wouldn't
hurt!

In saying this don't let this put you off staying here as if you want a good reasonably priced base for Milan this is a good option. Hopefully the hotel gets some feedback so they can sort their reception staff out!

I read the review before booking in the Rio hotel and i can say that sometimes the people really exaggerates a lot , I was in room 54 and i did not get bother from the tramway , the room was clean yes small but clean and the most important is the kindness of all the staff there specially Jimmy at the reception which really is very professional . The position is wonderful to visit the Duomo di Milano and near the shopping area in all a great small hotel . Special thanks again to Jimmy .
Keep the good work

Room Tip: choose room 54 its excellent

AMAZING location. the room itself was nice and small with big bathroom. the breakfast was nice too with pastries, coffee and more.
the lady that gave us the key wasn't very helpful or ever approchable. our double bed was actually two twin beds (with a gap between them) but the biggest problem we had was that they closed the heating for the night and it was freezing.

I needed a room last minute and found this place adequate. The location can't be beat. Just steps to the Duomo and waking distance to most tourist places. Sure the room was very small but all I needed was a place to stay. The night staff and day staff were both very friendly and helpful. I thought the breakfast was sufficient. Cappuccino, juice, yogurt and a croissant. What more would I want?
