“Not the best, but giod enough for the money paid”
Reviewed 27 July 2013 via mobile

When we arrived the guy at the reception claimed that we booked 2 triple rooms instead of 3 double rooms, which was definetely not true. After few minutes they realized that we were right.
ATTENTION - this hostel does not provide toileteries and towels. If you want to rent towels and shower gel you have to pay 5 euros.
The pillows were dirty, with stains, but they gave us pillow cases which seemed to be clean.
The furniture was new, the Wi-Fi worked only in the lobby and the breakfast consisted only in a croissant and a coffe.

This place wasn't like the normal hostel. It was very clean and had good security. The lounge area was nice and good to sit in a use the wifi. Breakfast was a let down with only being 1 croissant and a hot drink. If you were too slow and someone ate more than one croissant you missed out.

As far as hostels go it is good value for money. We found that the staff were friendly and helpful.
If you want hotel service then go to a hotel, but for a short stay at a cheap price this is perfectly acceptable. the tram stop for number12 & 14 are at 300 meters and both go the center of town.
if you are a light sleeper ask for a room ofn the side that doesn't overlook the railway.

This place has been recently renovated. Or is being currently renovated. It is hard to tell. Anyway, it seems as though the bulk of the money has gone into making the lobby look good i.e. having a lot of tvs, some "half moon" backed chairs, and a large front desk in order to be inefficient from.

The main complaints are as follows, in short form:

1. All rooms are made up of two double beds irrespective of what you book (be it single, triple, whatever. The only thing different is the price. Somewhat unethical.)
2. Unhelpful reception staff who sent me to go do their job when the room had been prepared for two rather than three.
3. Terrible security. You hand in your keys when you go out, and when you come back you simply need to say your room number, and keys will be given to you, even if the staff member had never seen you before.

I was travelling in a large group and we planned to pay on arrival. We were unable to pay separately on card, which is reasonable, but they also had no change for us to pay separately in cash and were not helpful at all in this regard.

We were travelling in a group of nine, and so had booked three separate rooms. When we arrived in our room, we discovered that it was two double beds - odd as we had booked a "triple". The other two rooms were the same. In the room we were in, there were no quilts, and only two pillows and two towels. When we tried to ask the woman cleaning the rooms further down the hall she tried to be helpful but had difficulty understanding our request due to language barriers. She handed us two suspiciously stained blankets instead.

On going down to the reception to ask for an additional pillow and blanket, I was told to "go find the cleaning lady". When I said I'd tried this already, he told me to go find the other one. He didn't make any phone calls or offer to help. The other cleaning lady equally didn't understand. In the end he said he would try and have some sent to our room. Overwhelmingly helpful.

The final thing is the keys, which need to be handed in when you go out. Totally reasonable. They are on a keyring with your room number on it (the significance of which will be apparent later). When you return, you just say your room number and the keys will be handed over. No ID required, no proof of stay, even if the staff member has never seen you. Offputting because basically anyone could just access your room.

One occasion we handed in the keys and the older man on duty left them on the counter, as he first went outside for a smoke, then came in to watch the soccer. Anyone could come up, take the keys, and go straight to the room listed on the keyring.

The only glimpse of good service was the man who was on night shift who was friendly and even turned the tv on and towards us when we were in the lounge.

Everything else? Disappointing.

Room Tip: Doesn't matter, as all rooms are the same and they don't prepare for the number of people an...

The place looks nice enough at first, but that doesn't make up for the poor service and facilities.

Most of the staff are unhelpful, wifi is only in the lobby and requires logging in every time you want to use it, a 3 share room has only 2 beds, the airconditioner didn't work, it's poorly located (taxi drivers were generally unsure where it was even with an address), the breakfast isn't great but probably what you expect for the price, and their security is terrible (they require you to give them your key every time you leave and then they just hand it to whoever asks for it - often the single staff member will not even be in the same room as the desk, leaving all the keys open for the taking).

To top it all off, when we asked them to book "taxis for 9 people, large or several" they booked 3 large taxis which we were forced to pay for all of even though we could fit into 2 and they all had a surcharge. Would definitely advise strongly against staying here.

Good value for money. The room was clean and decent sized. Breakfast was okay even though quite brief. There was a free-use computer in the lobby and a wifi which wasn't very reliable and worked only downstairs.

The receptionists' english skills were very poor. They also weren't very kind or helpful.. At first the night-clerk gave us key to a room which was already taken! Very embarrassing to wake up people in the middle of the night trying to invade their room with another key..! The receptionist didn't even apologize, only clumsily lead us to a new room and even left the key hanging in the keyhole..

The nearest metrostation was Garibaldi from 10 minutes walk away. Luckily we saw a tramstation only few minutes away from the hostel and traveled with a tram to other metrostations. The location was distant from the center and the neighbourhood was gloomy..

Despite the staff and location the hostel was a good and affordable place for a three night stand.
