I stayed in a twin room for 2 nights with breakfast. The toilet was spacious, and the shower was good. The shower cubicle was curve-shaped which you had to angle the shower head properly so you don't hit anything when showering.
There was a safety deposit box provided in the closet which was filled with random hangers of all sizes. And there was a space next to the closet to put our suitcases. However, there is only space for one suitcase so my roommate had to put hers on the floor (my suitcase was bigger). There was a study desk with chair provided along with one armchair. The LCD tv was placed above the study desk on a wall - situated at a corner where if you were sitting on a bed then you were able to see it. There are only 2 decent english channels - BBC and CNN. The rest was in italian. Everything was satisfactory. The room was clean as well.
Receptionists are very friendly, polite and fluent in english. There was ongoing construction opposite the hotel but since my room faced the back we did not hear any noise. The room door is quite tricky to lock from outside as a traditional key is needed to lock it. There was a problem with the wifi on our first night but by the second night it worked. A desktop computer is provided next to the reception to surf the net if you don't have mobile computers.
Breakfast is located in the basement and the array provided is not that bad as reviewers claim it to be. I've tried breakfasts ranging from hostels, guesthouse, 5-star hotels (ie, Westin), resorts and this one is a comfortable 3.5 out of 5.0 - which is OK. There was cereal, croissants, egg, a coffee machine & many more provided. There was someone on duty who constantly cleared the dishes so the small breakfast room could continuously accommodate more guests.
Metro is 1 min from the hotel (but to go back from metro make sure you know which exit you're taking) and the station serves a direct line to both the Duomo, Castello & Milano Centrale. Watch out for your belongings at the Centrale metro station though, dregs of society roam that area and they might even stoop mighty low to steal your change while you buy tickets from the ticket machine.
Overall I rate this hotel to be a pretty quaint place which tries to be at its best given its space provided in Milano. Don't expect too much out of it though.
PS: by Asian standards, I have to agree that this is no 4-star hotel.
