“Basic, clean and great location”
Reviewed 31 May 2012

We walked to the hotel from Milan Centrale as it's located in a big shopping road and easy to get direction. Took us almost 20 minutes with heavy luggage so if you don't have trolley bags, do hail a cab. The hotel is clean and basic with comfortable bed and tiled flooring. It's an old building but quite quaint with old lift still in good order. Stayed during summer but the tiled floor we thought must be cold during colder seasons. The room size is great and toilet is decent. Had a good nite rest for our short stay mainly for shopping at Duomo, Montenapoleone, Via Della Spiga etc. Perfect location just next to Metro very accessible to the nearby attractions. Most helpful and friendly English speaking receptionists.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Aurora. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. The staff are helpful. Carmine is friendly and helped carry our luggages when we arrived. Although the lift suddenly got broken when we got to the hotel, it was not really a problem as all the rooms are just on the first floor. The lift also got repaired the next day. Donato kindly offered us complimentary breakfast at the cafe beside the hotel on our first day. Hotel Aurora does not have its own dining room but the cafe has adequate selection of pastries and the cappuccino is good.

We were able to do most of our shopping in the area near the hotel and go back to the room to leave the bags before proceeding to the Duomo, which is just 3 stops by Metro. There's a supermarket in the street behind the hotel and a street market where agriturismos sell their produce.

I was happy that we chose this hotel.

I can recommend hotel Aurora.
The location is fantastic for shopping and touring the city. It's also 10 minutes walk to the central station and about 25 minutes on foot to Duomo.
The receptionist, a young man, spoke English and was always smiley and helpful.
Quiet room inspite of its main shopping street location.

We had an extremely tiny room, with a double bed, which was more like single.
No tea/coffee facility in the room was initially a drawback but we could take as much boiled water as we needed from the reception.
A very small size of the bathroom and one of the tiniest shower cabins we have ever experienced, which is typical for Italian hotels. If you are a man, taller than average, with the weight exceeding 80 kg, having shower is not most pleasant. Both the room and the bathroom need good update.
The hotel deserves its one star, but the room price is bit too high for a one-star hotel.

The hotel is 15min walking distance with luggage to the train station and about 3min to the Porta Venezia Metro Stop, 2 stops away from Duomo. The location is very good on one of the main shopping streets with shops like H&M, Zara, Stradivarius, etc. and close to the center.
The room was clean and the bathroom functional.
For that price, you get more value than in most hotels in Milano and very friendly &helpful service. Would recommend it anytime.

Room Tip: A room facing away from the street increases your sleeping comfort, unless you have loud neighbours...

As the other reviewers state, the location in Milan can't be beat for the price - close both to the railroad terminal and the center, and on one of the main commercial streets in the city.
The hotel is also well run, albeit without breakfast, by attentive owners and staff. The walls, however, are thin - if you get drunken students who like to watch TV at top volume as your neighbors, your best hope is that they'll pass out before midnight...

Room Tip: ask for room away from the street

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We were 3 persons in a triple room and paid 200 euros in total.
In terms of location, it is on a main road (Corso Buenos Aires) which is well lit during the night and also a very safe area. There are a lot of shops as well and the metro stop M1 is just a few metres away from the hotel. The hotel is not far from the Centrale Train Station (about 15 mins by metro) and just 3 stops away from the Duomo.

Checkin was at 12pm but the room was not ready until 1.30pm. They made up for this by giving all 3 of us a free cappuccino and a delicious brioche from a bar next to the hotel on the next day. We were also allowed to choose between 2 rooms. We chose one with a window on the Corso. Thanks to double glazing you will not hear the traffic. The hotel is very quiet and located on the first floor of a Palazzino. The room was a decent size, spotless and had a tv, hairdryer, a/c and heating. The bathroom was nice as well. Towels were changed and the bed was done for us. The staff were all nice and helpful. They gave us a map, tips and also booked our taxis in the evenings.

This is definitely not the 1 star hotel I expected. I cannot recommend it enough! I would definitely stay here again.
