There's (in Dec '16) a smell in the rooms on the left side of the second floor coming from a drainage problem. I complained and they changed my room twice, trying to make out it was some anom Italy just happening to me, but each room had the same problem. I heard various stories 'ah, it happens sometimes, but just in the morning, then it goes away' 'ah, it's only when the weather's cold' and 'you're the only one complaining about it'. Anyway, by day 3 I was fed up with the stories (which they eventually admitted they knew about all along and can't fix for a while (January). Despite that, when I asked for a refund for the remaining night of my stay so I could move elsewhere, they just said no. No reason given, just apparently don't give money back under any circumstances regardless of whether they're giving you what you're paying for or not. The same stingyness continues in the good-sized kitchen with no kettle, microwave or toaster, despite it being a large hostel. Don't be fooled by all the posters throughout the hostel 'Let's meet new people and exchange cultures' type thing. When things go wrong, it's then that you'll see what this place is really all about. Good points are decent decor, ensuite bathrooms, wifi throughout.
