“This was suppose to be the upgrade for a over booking on hostelbookers”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

We had originally booked a hostel near the Milan Centrale Train station. When we got to Milan there was a email telling us the hostel was overbooked by error and as per the guidelines with hostelbookers they had to give us the same or better quality..All I can say is the room and the bathrooms were very very clean. Guy at the front desk was ok. Location was ok. You're a good brisk 15 minute walk from the train station. At first they were not going to let us keep our key to our room, if we left the building??? Finally talked him into letting us keep the key..not sure what that was about. The beds were not comfortable and the room was hot. We had the window wide open, street was very noisy. The thing that threw me for a loop, we had to catch a bus to the airport at 5 a.m. When we went to leave we could not use the elevator as it was locked and when we tried to walk out to get the stairs we couldn't get out as the exit door was locked up also. We were locked in! Tapped the bell at the front desk a few times before we were able to wake anyone -which I'm sure by that time we may have woken everyone in the building. How can a public hostel lock people in, on the 3rd or 4th floor with no other way out. There has to be a fire law against that!! I'm sorry but I would not recommend this hostel/lodge/inn what ever it was. And the professional pictures.. that's a joke.

The hotel has two advantages: good price and a perfect location. It is just 50m from the metro station (Porta Venezia), close the the nice shopping street and just behind the corner there is a very good cafeteria/pub/restaurant (Pandenus) with reasonable prices. With just 3 metro stations you are in the city center (Duomo station). Visiting a city like Milan I usually spend at the hotel no more then 6 - 8h a day. The only place I need is a clean place to sleep. And this is exactly what I got in this place.

This is just "one star" hotel so, rooms are very basic with below medium quality furnitures. They are anyway very clear, having in mind this is not a new building, and cleaning is done daily (including Sunday). Staff is very friendly and understand basic English. Wifi is working fine, and is free, just need to get the login/passwd at the reception.

There is no restaurant, at the reception it's possible to buy a coffee as well as cold drinks. There are anyway some regular shops close to the hotel, so it's possible to buy what you need at reasonable prices. It's in the center of the city so, some noise during night will happen. It's possible to pay by credit card (what can be sometimes an issue in Italy…). For a next visit in Milan will, most probably, select this place again.

Considering the nice location of the hotel and the price per night in a city like Milan, I'd say it's worth for its value. The room is spacious. Staff were ok. Location really easy to reach by public transportation. We stayed in a room for 3, there was a restroom inside our room. Enoug bathroom in the hall.
Cons: room was a bit cold but it was ok since the blanket was good

Upsides: Good location, close to shopping on Corso Buenos Aires, the train station, and a metro stop. Easy to find, affordable, free WiFi, three bathrooms to a hall. Drinks and some food available for purchase at the front desk. Free towels. Elevator.

Downsides: Terrible, terrible mattress. Beds are uncomfortably close together. No air conditioning. In between Reppublica and Corso Buenos Aires, so it's really, really loud outside, all night long. WiFi, while free, is highly unreliable.

Other things to be aware of: There isn't an age limit here, so know that you might be sharing a room with creepy middle-aged men, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Room Tip: The less people the better.

Positives:
Staff were pleasant but their English was poor (Chinese/Korean, I guess)
Bed was excellent, shower worked. Excellent position 10 minutes' walk from Central Station
2 minutes from C.SO Buenos Aires (main shopping street) Everything else close at hand - internet cafe, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, banks etc

Negatives:
Hotel was not clean - room especially so
No tea/coffee, hotel/city guide
Poor value for money - for 30 euros more there were fine tourist hotels nearby.

No a/c and room far too hot (even in May!) Had to sleep with window open - rained overnight and this would have drenched all my belongings if I had not had them next to bed.
Internet was dial-up slow (free of charge)

It was OK for a one night crash for one person but otherwise I'd avoid.

Room Tip: Without being sarcastic ..... there are no good rooms.

Free high speed WiFi and great location (walking distance to either Milano Centralle or Porta Venezia Metro stop) are two main reasons to stay here.
Staffs are Chinese who speak good English (women) or at least sufficient English (man).
It's also clean and safe enough, at least for me.
However, the price is quite high for a 4 beds shared room with no breakfast included.
It's also quite noisy (of course, it's located on a main artery) if you aren't used to sleep with some noise.

The location of this hostel is good, it's some minutes walk from Central train station, the staff is very friendly and nice, I found the price a little high for a 4 beds shared room with shared bathroom and no breakfast. I felt that the bed I slept on was not the cleanest one, and the room was very very hot with no a/c and just a little fan that didn't help at all.
