My husband and I stayed in Nov 06, for 4 nights in their top floor junior suite which was really lovely and clean, modern and incredibly spacious. I called the hotel last minute and they offered me a rate of 210 Euros which was fantastic.
The hotel is modern and stylishly done with a small foyer (no restaurant or gym) and the infamous and expensive Ice Bar.

The location is quite poor and although accessible to trams (10min walk), it is located opposite a grimey park which is usually inhabited by noisy teenagers in the evenings. It certainly didn't feel that safe to walk around the area at night.
A previous reviewer mentioned a cooked breakfast but that was not the case at all. The continental breakfast consisted of packaged toast, ham, fruit salad and cereal. There was a cappacino machine available all day but the hotel had very few amenities.
Apart from the gorgeous room however, there was nothing boutique about the hotel in terms of service or attention. The woman at the counter spoke quite little English and seemed even less interested in advising us on how to catch public transport or where to eat out. I would not recommend not this hotel based on location and service.
We did find some lovely cafe called Huggy Bear on the Corso de Sempione just before the Park du Sempione (15 min walk). Milan was very expensive for shopping and had more graffiti than a typical underground station.
Milan is in many ways the ugly duckling of Italy, and I would recommend a stop at Florence, Venice or Rome instead of Milan.

Based on the presented reviews, we choose to stay for 3 nights at this hotel in January. Bad choice. The hotel is located "far from everything" and the staff is so so unhelpful. The rooms are really small with a minimum of amenities. The appartenence to SLH and Design Hotels is questionable.

The ICE BAR deserve a visit (be careful do not ask for refill is extremely costy 10 Euro for 20 ml of Vodka).

One spot ( surprisingly the hotel staff will not tell you about) the 3 Jolly restaurant, just across the street.

So, if in Milan again (quite disappointing destination!) definitely we will chose different.

After reading a few of the reviews posted about this hotel we almost changed our reservations - I'm so glad we didn't! Townhouse 12 was beautiful and, compared to other European Hotels, the rooms were quite spacious! The breakfast that is included was another pleasant surprise, eggs cooked to order, wonderful fresh pastries, plenty of fresh fruit. Also, the staff were so helpful and informative. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay near lots of nightlife. Although Townhouse 12 is not very close to most of the shopping districts (about 20 min walk) it is perfectly situated near many very modern, very popular night spots, both restaurants and lounges. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay there again.

Contrary to what previous reviews indicate, Townhouse 12 is an absolute gem. We stayed there for four nights on our honeymoon. Each day, we were treated to chocolates and champagne in our room, which was decorated very tastefully with calming minimalist decor. Carlo, the manager, went out of his way to make sure we had the proper maps and local information to make our exploration of Milan worthwhile. True, breakfast was not wonderful, but Italians don't eat a large breakfast anyway and gourmet individual french press coffee was served by the extremely attentive waiter who was at our beckoned call.

The Ice Bar was not crowded, which resulted in a very quiet and calm stay, with the exception of a loud party next door one night. Carlo apologized profusely for this even thought it was not his fault. Upon checkin and checkout, he greeted us personally at the door of the hotel. We loved out experience there so much that we came back to Milan after touring around Italy just to stay there for two more nights at the end of the trip.

This hotel is a non-touristy alternative for people weary of the typical urban Italian hotel, which is most of the time noisy with small rooms and inattentive staff. It is in a very safe and interesting part of town, away from the craziness of the Duomo, but a very quick ride or action-packed walk away. Stay at Townhouse 12, you will not be sorry.

Few would imagine Absolute Ice Bar (sure the "coolest place in Milan" right now) shares its entrance with a "low profile" very good standard 4 star hotel. Modern, minimalist interior clean and fair sized rooms (for european 4star standard) helpful and professional staff. I was surprised not to find laundry service "tools" such as bags and laundry list or "do not disturb" sign or button on door but soon realised this is not that kind of "establishment" (not a bad thing)

Free fast internet access in rooms, breakfast room is also a Wi-fi spot and doubles up as work/internet corner very useful if you have a wireless enabled laptop.

Breakfast choice was varied and there was plenty of it all 3 days I was there (even when I got down at around 10.15am)!!! Haven't asked for espresso though ....

I have stayed in so many hotels but none who pretend to be something they are not! Who are they kidding! Grey does not mean cool! Bland does not mean arty! Industrial means nothing! (what kind of main entrance is that?) There is potential here if the Townhouse management came back down to earth, the location is fine and the idea is good but the ice bar was empty each night which did not entice us in to zub zero temperatures, maybe more appealing during the hot summer months in Milan (me thinks not!) Tiny rooms, shower over taps (so nice bruises there)and it flooded as it was pointing over the side of the bath. The staff were trying to hard to be too cool,(a map would have been helpful) not what you'd expect in Milan where cool comes naturally, the essence of being cool is not to be! Oh And Breakfast - FORGET IT!
