“25 years visiting Milano never asked to leave the table”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

We visit Milano almost every year in April for the Salone furniture fair. We've had many "unique" dinner experiences and have had the pleasure of dinner at some of Milano's finest restaurants. Giacomo was highly rated for its seafood and we looked forward to a wonderful meal. The food and service were above average for Milano but we were taken aback after just finishing our dinner and ordering an espresso and Grappa to have the owner say "please take the check I need the table" . A Swiss couple seated next to us who had yet to finish we're also asked to pay and give up their table as well. We were not lingering at the table by any means and dinner for the two of us was nearly $300. While our meal was good and we had no fault with the waitstaff, a very disappointing experience that takes rude Italian service to a new level.

“Fabulous seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

Best meal we had in Milan on our last visit in Feb2014. Seafood was outstanding in particular the Sicilian red prawns, the scampi and crab. The restaurant was very accommodating for our party of 20 with kids of all ages.

“NOT UP TO THE HYPE”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

Hard to say why my wife and I received an 'off' experience last night, but even leaving aside the question of price, we left thinking we'd just been served a distinctly average meal.

The highlights:
- risotto dr frutti di mare. Exceptional. Truly outstanding.
- spaghetti alla vongole. Good though I've had better elsewhere. Uneven seasoning.

The lowlights:
- Seabass alla Giacomo. Given that the dish is named after the restaurant, you'd expect more from a signature dish. Over-baked: which made it impossible to tell the freshness or taste of the fish itself. NOT outstanding.
- costelleta alla Milanese. One veal died here in vain. Heavy breadcrumbs, stringy meat - this is the speciality of the city??

Service: a waiter who was basically aloof to our thoughts and hence our trade throughout the meal.

Ambience: The crowd was buzzing though, which either means the restaurant is saving its best for its regulars, or Milan's fashion-hungry Imperial elite will soon be seeking a new set of culinary clothes.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014

Since I live in Milan for 5 years, this restaurant is something I call a 'lovemark'.

It is one of my favorite in the city and everyone I ever took there truly enjoyed the experience.
The cuisine is traditionally Italian seafood, and this combination could not be better. The personal favorites are:
-the selection of raw fish
-tartar of whitefish
-crabmeat inside the shell on the salad leaves
-sea bass prepared in the salt crust
The selection of vines is impressive, the deserts are to die for.
The millefoglie con lampone is astonishing as well as chocolate cake, and little strawberries tart.

The service is exceptional, they could be a bit stressed due to the amount of people and perpetual craze in the kitchen, however, they are always eager and ready to help.

The place is famous equally between tourists and locals and it is a great experience all year round
