Unbelievable food in a beautiful garden setting. Be sure to make a reservation to eat outside in their garden. Eating in Milan under the sky was breathtaking. My e-mail request to their website via trip adviser was promptly returned. When you sit down you are served a complimentary Prosecco. The Parma Ham and Buffalo mozzarella cheese was a perfect starter. My wife and me shared the fish of the day—Ricciola a uniquely Italian fish which was a cross between bronzono and Halibut steak and the veal shank and risotto. The Ricciola cooked in a yummy lemon sauce with garlic and capers, was caught earlier in the day and was cut from a large whole fish displayed in the restaurant. Both of our entrees were so yummy. The desserts are all homemade. For dessert we shared the fresh mascarpone cheese and homemade thin wafers. It was amazing. Service was first rate. Price was moderate. This restaurant is highly recommended.

This is a charming restaurant tucked away on Via Borromei (about 5 minutes off Via Torrino with all its crowds). The tables in the courtyard are particularly charming, as are the staff who made our 4 year old particularly welcome. The food is very good, the pumpkin ravioli is to be recommended.

We just returned to our hotel from having a wonderful experience at the Hossteria Borromei. The staff, the food and the ambience in the garden room were all exceptional. If you are looking for a quiet, local restaurant in a Milan, with great food and reasonable prices, this is the place for you!

The restaurant is very nice (especially the tables in the courtyard) and the service was fast, efficient and really polite. The food itself though was an average experience -eggplant and mozzarella entree was fine, but the fried variety entree dish was nothing special; spaghetti al pesto was tasteful, but I didn't really enjoy osso bucco with risotto milanese. On the other hand, house white wine was really nice and very reasonably priced and tiramisu was great!

We had stopped by early evening the night before, and they were full, so we tried again the next night, as we stayed close by. Glad we did. We asked for a wine recommendation and enjoyed a perfect local white, well chosen. After antipasto, I ordered sea bass, and my husband ordered pasta with sea food. His, he said was perfect. My sea bass was a filet covered in a dainty layer of fresh potato, and it was so very good! Yes, at first the staff was a little stiff, but they warmed up after a bit. We did sit next to two tables, families with young women, who chattered loudly about going to college..we could hear every word..I doubt they knew what they ate, but they weren't there long, and we enjoyed our dessert and Calvados. We got a sense these folks know their food and prepare it with great care.
