“3rd time there and planning to go back”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

We found this restaurant by chance because we couldn't get in to one a few steps before. What a pleasant surprise. Since, we have been another 2 times and we will definitely go back. Menu chances but stays similar, good wine, good prices. The food is northern italian, and according to a italian friend, it is similar to the Piemonte region, area known by the Slow Food movement and their Barolo red wine. I definitely recommend it not only for the food, but for their service and atmosphere. Winner if you want to show of without spending a fortune.

“Imaginative variations on Italian classics”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

The Negelio area of Milan borders an old commercial network of canals. It is a popular area for the hip 20s set, but there are so many and varied places to eat, even 50-60-somethings like us found many attractive choices. We picked le Vigne because there were several seafood choices on the menu and a number of Milanise food review decals in the window.
This is NOT a tourist restaurant. We were the only English speaking patrons. The staff was very casually dressed, and it looks like family or friends run the place together. If you want fawning service this is not the place.
We split an imaginative appetizer of scampi, fresh corn kernels and diced apple on a,bed of....cream cheese?! Sounded crazy, tasted delicious. Our mains were fresh turbo encrusted in pistachio crumbs with warm roasted figs; and "ravioli"(more like tortellini) filled with a seafood mixture, in a broth with salmon eggs and hyacinth fronds. I've never had anything like the ravioli.

The wine list sheets were held together with a rubber band, and we were not familiar with many of the wines (mainly northern Italian)' but the waiter recommended a Trentino Warzga-something that was just right.
There are plenty of see-and-be-seen places with outdoor dining in the Negeli, but more than enough gems like this to make the area worth seeking out.

“Fantastic food and hospitality”
Reviewed 22 June 2013

Traveling alone in Milan, I ran across this place on the canal and noticed an interesting menu. I made a reservation for later and returned for an extraordinarily good meal - local cuisine, but with interesting twists and an emphasis on freshness. As if this weren't enough, the owner enjoyed the fact I was relishing the meal and as I lingered over coffee, poured me a couple of glasses of a local "fermata", a dessert wine from the region. If only American restaurant owners were half this gracious.

“Authentic cuisine”

Nice place, nice atmosphere, good food; authentic cuisine for those who like it. A little bit too simple maybe. Nice area outside center of Milan.

“Racist Restaurant - Foreigners Not Welcomed”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

Unfortunately I cannot say anything about the food since we left the place (while the owner/manager was clapping and had a smile in his face). We tried this place because it was recommended by many sites, including TripAdvisor, but I cannot recommend it. First we were seated near the kitchen while better tables were available. Then we were kept waiting for service for almost 30 min. When the menu was finally brought to us, it was waved and fanned at our face and thrown to the table. Other customers arriving later had service before us. It was not just bad service, but also the attitude and comments of the owner and waitresses. My husband (American of Asian descent) and my sister (Italian citizen also of Asian descent) are fluent in Italian and heard their comments. In short, stay away from this place if you look Asian. The reviews rated poor and terrible here were made mostly by Italians. That tells you something.
