We discovered the agriturismo (farm stay), " Ai Due Taxodi," in Badia Pavese a number of years ago when traveling with all four of our children. The family who runs the farm is very accommodating. They are always so kind and gracious. The farmhouse, in the middle of rice fields, on a farm where they raise Chianina cattle, is an old stone structure, built several hundred years ago, and lovingly restored by the family. We are always accommodated in a large bedroom with the original ancient beams, old tile floors, and fireplace.
We breakfast in front of an ancient fireplace, surrounded by the old tools the family found when they restored the farmhouse. We have occasionally eaten dinner in front of the fire.
The agriturismo is a great value, costing much less than similar places. It is in the country, but very close to the autostrade, with easy access to Cremona, Milano, and many other Italian cities. There are also a number of charming villages within a few minutes' drive.
Ai Due Taxodi has become a favorite place for our family, and we always feel like we are going home when we return to Italy and spend a few nights there.
