“Excellent small, quiet Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

In the tree lined avenue leading to Pavia Railway Station, (2 minutes away) is the Hotel Aurora. It is a smaller Hotel and the rooms are basic, with air-conditioning & TV (Italian only), but very comfortable. There is a small lobby and Bar with an adjacent room for Breakfast. The Breakfast is highly recommended. The staff are excellent, helpful at all times, and speak good English. If you do not want to walk far to a Restaurant there is one next door attached to the Hotel Moderno. We had 5 enjoyable days in Pavia and enjoyed the quiet of the Hotel Aurora.

Room Tip: A three bed room is a better size.

My wife and I have just spent a delightful week in Pavia, visiting our grand-daughter who is a student at the town's university. We decided to stay at the Hotel Aurora and were delighted with our choice. Only a minute from the railway station, this is an excellent hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Situated in a beautiful tree-lined avenue the Aurora is surprisingly quiet, given it's proximity to the station. We did not hear any noise from trains, traffic or anything else.
Desk clerks Luca and Matteos, Anna and her husband (also named Luca) were particularly helpful whenever we required their assistance about finding our way about. Breakfast is well worth the price at 6euros...quite frankly you would not be able to find anything costing so little at any of the town's cafes. Cereals, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, cake, crackers, cheese and toast are all available - just eat as much as you want. Various strengths of tea and coffee are also available.
Our bedroom also had tea making facilities which surprised us as we had not picked that up from the hotel's web site. We should have checked with the hotel first as it would have saved us bringing along our travel kettle in our suitcases. Finally, we want to stress just how immaculately clean the hotel is - we would definitely stay at this gem of a hotel again, next time we return to Pavia. Absolutely top rated.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 22, cosy double bed with an additional bed/settee.

The Aurora is in an excellent position, right in the centre of Pavia. Welcoming staff were there to assist on our arrival, and to show us where to park (no parking at the Hotel) There is an excellent restuarant right next door (not attached to the Hotel). Breakfast was typically continental, nice breads, fruit, ham, cheese, coffee etc and served in the foyer that has been cleverly screened off from the front door. It's all very small but perfectly formed, clean and modern - and then you discover the bed! It is not an exaggeration to say that I have slept on more comfortable floors - the mattress was absolutely rock solid and I actually ended up on the sofa while my husband braved it out on the bed! Apart from that, the room was again, small but perfectly formed, nice shower (no bath) and nice decor. I would go back to the Aurora but would insist on testing the bed in every free room, to find one that felt approachable - just call me Goldilocks!

Stayed 9 nights at the October, 2012.We was so happy with our stay at Hotel Aurora. Everything went smooth and was according to the pictures and info from booking. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and quiet and were a decent size. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is two minutes walk to Pavia station, 5 minutes walk to Pavia center and about 30 min train journey to Milan €3.85 single. The last train back from Milan was 00.25. It was so helpful to have welcoming English speaking staff that was happy to tell us all about Pavia and transport to Milan. All the staff is the professionals in their field. We were a group of 3 friends and everyone was very happy with their stay. Pavia is a place to stroll; the Saturday Market is bustling and full of amazing meats, cheeses, olives, honey and vegetables. The Duomo is well worth a visit, so many cafes/restaurants to drink and eat. ... We will stay longer next time.

Great little lace in the centre of Pavia. Two hotel parking spaces in front of the establishment. Otherwise undercover commercial car park CCTV supervised 24 hours at cost of 7eur per 24 hrs.
Nice self service breakfast spread..no restaurant however. Plenty of good eateries all around the city. Recomend it to everyone on basis of solid service and quality all around. And plenty of hot water and warm rooms...at great price... .

Room Tip: Recommend room no 28...

We loved this hotel. It was a 1930's hotel full of charm and very clean and tidy.
The staff were wonderful and so happy to have English speaking tourists as they
say hardly any tourists come to Pavia. The hotel was situated just near the train station
and across the road from a funky little bar. The town is full of history and has a Medieval bridge
very similar to the one in Florence. Why go to Florence and battle with the tourists when you can go to Pavia and enjoy all the history in a small romantic town. Pavia has everything, the piazza, wonderful restaurants, a medieval bridge and old historic churches and NO tourists.
They just haven't discovered it yet.

Room Tip: We had a room near the top floor but I think any room in this hotel would be OK. The service was gr...

Hotel Aurora is a very clean and small hotel near the Pavia Central Raylway Station. Very kind the receptionists and helpful and also the breakfast is ok. The bathroom and the room were clean but so small. it is no more than 15 minutes on foot from the city centre.
Recommended.
