Each year ar end of our two weeks we spend the night in !ilan. Recently we decided to skip the city and stay at Lago D'Orta. This trip we choose Hotel San Rocco. This is a stunning property directly on the lake. A short walk into town. Overall this is a cross between a 4 and 5 star. Only negatively was service was inconsistent. On one side very helpful and then inconsistent. We had to ask thre time to get temperature in room to work, was never actually successful but everywhere else was wonderful. Would definitely stay again as a last night in country place to wind down

Good afternoon,
about your room we try to change your accomodation, but the only empty room were of a different categorie. About the air condition work good, the difference of the other hotel that we have a system of cooling not air conditioning.

Given the high rate of the hotel compared to others nearby we were disappointed with our stay.

The lobby areas were nice, the room was ok but very brown and would benefit from some artwork or a little colour. I like subtle neutral colours but the room just felt drab. We've had better rooms for the price we paid.

Check in was fine but service varied between the very friendly female staff at reception to one male staff member who was just rude.

DON"T stay here if there is an event on; it can get very loud and there is limited access to certain parts of the hotel. Other guest seemed unhappy at the situation too.

We were very disappointed by the pool. It closes quite early (perhaps because of the event?) and looks unkempt. The paving around the pool was covered in weeds and the grass needed cut. It definitely wasn't up to the standard we expected and we left wondering why we paid so much for our stay. The location and views from the hotel are lovely, but if we returned to the town we wouldn't even consider returning.

This hotel was recommended and from check in its been a disaster. Air con not working, no hot water in the morning, booked three rooms and they were all over the place not together. We are a large family and the booking was under one name so have no idea what they were thinking. Saw manager- gave him time to remedy situation and he said he was sorry. Well, sorry doesn't erase memories of a shocking stay especially after travelling from Australia. I'm so annoyed at myself as I booked on a recommendation. Either hotel has recently rapidly gone down hill or my friend was lucky with her stay.

Good afternoon,
the reservation of our client was not completed and we try to risolve the problem as soon as possible, the no hot water was a problem of the very bad weather of the night before, but we rosolved in 2 hours.
We give to our client one dinner free for all the family, the frigo bar free and also the bottle of water free and a special attention to the request of the family.
We hope that enjoy Orta and we are very sorry for everything

We visited hotel san rocca at the beginning of the season, in mid may, a family of 4. Orta is a stunning place and the location of the hotel right by the lake is breath taking. Unfortunately the hotel is not doing its location any justice. The staff is quite nice, but untrained and therefore not able to offer a 4* service. The service was not able to fill up the breakfast buffet in time, eggs where cold and to get a warm boiled egg you are apparently charged 4 euros. To get a coffee on the terrace, you might have to wait 20 min. till you get served. The layout of the hotel is very strange. The reception is not well connected to the rooms. The bar is a soulless and sad arrangement of leather couches, not stylish nor cozy. The really nice terrace and the pool might be a highlight in the summer, but in may it was still a bit cold. The rooms are spacious and clean, but for a 4* nothing special. It was a pleasant stay, but I would not book this hotel again.

This was probably my favorite hotel, on a trip marked by great hotels. The location is right on Lago Orta so even if you don't have a lakefront room, which we didn't, you can enjoy the lake as you dine or have a drink on the great floating deck or covered patio. Lago Orta is much smaller than Como or Maggiore so there is a more intimate feel. The hotel is on the edge of tiny Orta San Giulio, so a quick and easy walk into the main square. In the midst of medieval charm, the hotel is very modern, to the point of austerity, but very stylish. Good service. Good breakfast. Nice pool area, right on the lake and lake swimming for the hardy. Re the water drinkability issue, that is out dated info. Water was fine -- some money was spent to upgrade plumbing and now not a problem. They certainly need to update their hotel directory to reflect this - selling bottled water isn't worth the bad press. But we Americans do get a little irked by the general European custom of charging for water in restaurants and whatever so perhaps overreact. But again, we were on a VBT trip, all drank or used the water to brush teeth, etc, and no one had a problem.

We held the reception here for my son's wedding.

The setting is idyllic, looking out onto the lake. The food was good and the only reason I am giving this 3 star, is sadly because of the service.

The table settings were not correct , the menu advertised veal instead of lamb, although lamb was served as requested. The waiters were unbelievably slow and had to be asked several times to bring butter and wine to the tables.

I also felt that since we had had the reception there and that the newly married couple were spending the night at the hotel, more could have been done my management to make their room special.

Sadly we only stayed one night, but the hotel was a real surprise. Hidden among the side roads of the lake, it was of ultra modern design. The room was spacious and had balcony which looked directly over the lake. The bar had an outside area which overlooked the lake. We had a very enjoyable evening meal and breakfast, and had to leave the next day regretfully.
