Oriental architecture in Italy's Piedmont region. Only 14 rooms, vast and with antique furniture, silk wallpaper. Beautiful garden with sunbeds. Terrace with suites under a giant canopy top. Unfortunately there is no pool. Exclusive cuisine. Try the 10 course surprise dinner with accompanying wines.

My husband and I had just had our wedding celebration at Villa Crespi. The Villa with it's romantic oriental look is a stunning backdrop for the perfect wedding. The enormous permanent tent in the garden makes it ideal for a garden wedding even if it's bad weather (we had rain at one point of the evening which didn't bother us at all and we stayed dry).
The staff is extremely professional, charming and speaks well English, especially the event/banqueting responsible, Stefania Siani is a very experienced and very hands on and helpful with providing local contact for give/aways, technical infrastructure and additional hotels for guest who couldn't stay at the Villa (the Villa only has 15 rooms). They were also very relaxed about the fact that is was a gay wedding. The food was amazing especially taking into account the number of guests (70pax). The meal was exactly as we had it at our tasting without any decrease in quality as you usually have it when a tasting menu is scaled to a large number of guests.
We for sure will come back to celebrate our anniversary.

We stayed two nights in the Executive Suite 213 at Villa Crespi. The room is as presented on the hotel's website (furniture in classic/antique style) and equipped with multiple airconditioning units as well as a spacious shower. Be aware that the "lake view" is rather limited in summer, as the suite is on the first floor and the lush vegetation (especially the trees) restricts the lake views quite significantly. The quality of the breakfast was outstanding (any eggs to order, home-made yoghurts, excellent cold-cuts and wide selection of cheeses, freshly squeezed orange juice and most importantly impeccable coffee with the option of having even soy milk). Also the waiters are very attentive, friendly and professional, which actually applies to all staff we were in contact during our stay. As we attended an event we are also able to get a taste of the cuisine by chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo, which we can highly recommend. Last but not least - having free wireless internet working all across the hotel was very much appreciated.

The village of Orta is beautiful and definitively worth a stroll through.

All in all I recommend this hotel and restaurant for any romantic getaway in the northeastern part of Piedmont and would consider returning for a long weekend.

Room Tip: Recommend rooms facing the lake and ideally on levels 2 or 3.

We had a great stay at Villa Crespi. When we arrived we were delighted to find out we'd been upgraded to the best room in the hotel. The views were amazing out of all of the windows. The lake is picturesque and the quaint town is only a short walk down the hill.

All staff were a credit to the hotel and v friendly. We had dinner in the evening which was very tasty and we were treated to a huge thunderstorm which we could see over the lake.

It's expensive but we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Had three incredible nights at the Villa Crespi Hotel, unfortunately did not get a chance to eat there (but definately one day!) the hotel is just beautiful, everything about it is perfect. The room we had booked was wonderful with an amazing view of the lake. The thing about this hotel that makes it stand out is the staff who were just so professional but also friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were always pleasant, polite and very helpful. The cleaniness of this hotel also stood out. The breakfasts were just lovely and again the waiters went out of their way to please. It was quite refreshing to see the Chef (apparently a Celebrity Chef) always there both lunchtimes and evening. Can't wait to stay there again. Thanks Villa Crespi for making our short stay of 3 nights so perfect.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Gold Suite

Villa Crespi is certainly a fantastic building, in fact it is more of a Folly to look at from the outside.
The breakfast is very good and served up in a lovely Orangery type room, with pretty pots of Orchids and nice tables.
We didn't have dinner as it was too expensive for our budget, though I am sure its very good.
The rooms were a disappointment, most of the beds are doubles so not ideal for a party of friends. Our room was obviously designed for a family of three, with a double and a small (lumpy!) single. I won the toss, so got the double while my poor friend suffered on the rickety small single.
The room was hung with dark blue silk wallpaper, dark floors and dark drapes, giving a rather funereal feel. There was no mirror or dressing table in the bed room, so to do hair and make up you have to wait till the bathroom is free.
There was no lake view sadly, which might have made up for the depressing gloom of the room.
We asked if there were any other rooms available, but the hotel apparently was full.
Bear in mind too, that it is quite a walk down to the little town of Orta, and not much fun at night.
I always think it would be a good idea if hotel owners slept and dressed in each room themselves for a night, so they can see first hand how it works and feels, then make any changes accordingly.
I would probably stay somewhere else next time and just come for a meal or coffee.

Dear Sara,

We are very sorry you and your friend did not enjoy our rooms. You may well be right this is not usually considered to be a hotel where girlfriends come for a holiday together, we are generally considered to be a romantic destination for couples or families with something special to celebrate but you have brought some things to our notice which we are most grateful for.
Thank you! We are always happy to receive constructive criticism which will help us to ensure all our guests have a great time. This is the first time we have had a remark made about the single bed in the suite you occupied and we will now be looking into this issue.
Just for the sake of accuracy, we are just 15 minutes walk from the center of Orta and while it is certainly a pretty walk along the lake it may worry two girls walking alone. But please be advised that this is a very safe area and it is highly unlikely that anything could ever happen to you here, even at night.
Thank you so much for writing your review, we do hope you may one day return for a meal with us!

Kindest regards,

Cinzia Primatesta Cannavacciuolo

We were staying at this hotel as part of a walking trip we were on. It is not a place we would have necessarily chosen but we had a nice visit. I can see how people would love its charm however it was a little too funky for our taste. If we returned to that area we would probably find some other place to say. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
