The place is clean and very central, only about 5-10 minutes on foot from Turin's Porta Nuova train station. There are about two floors of steps to get to the entrance; the pensione occupies one or two floors of a palazzo. The breakfast is a spartan -- one hot croissant in which you may spread jam, butter, or cocoa, an assortment of dry, per-packed biscuits, coffee, water, and whole fruit -- but it gives you enough of a boost to last till lunchtime. The area felt pretty safe, even at night.

A clean hotel very well situated for most of the tourist attractions. One thing you should be aware of this hotel is on the second floor and has 63 steps to climb to access it.

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable and very big. I loved having sheets and blankets it felt very cosy. The staff are a little limited with English but we got by with our pigeon Italian and sign language.

The breakfast is a continental style self service with a range of biscuits and dry toast, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Coffee and pastries are served by the owner And she does it in an interesting style akin to Mrs Overall.

Our room had a few issues that could be fixed. There was a smell coming from the drains in the bathroom and the shower was not that hot. The door to our room did not seal completely and cooking smells from the family kitchen and light from the corridor was seeping through the gaps at night. We opened the bathroom window to deal with the smell and the rest was not too much of an issue really.

Overall we were a group of 8 and had 4 rooms 3 out of the 4 rooms were great it was just our room that had these issues (room 5) but we all enjoyed our stay and felt that this hotel represented good value for money

Spent one night at Albergo Abanyta between dropping off a car and catching the train to Venice the next morning. Really good, clean room in central location in the middle of Turin's excellent retail district. Five minutes walk to the station. Good coffee for breakfast with the usual sweet croissant. Have to haul your bags upstairs but well worth the effort if you are up for it.

The pros of The Abanyta Hotel
- location: close to all the most important sights and shops
- a sympathetic old couple running the place; however, they don't speak any English
- a very clean place
- best coffee I've ever had in hotels

The cons
- our room was next to the owners' kitchen, so we were woken up early in the mornings when they were preparing breakfast; this can be different in the other rooms, though. All in all, the noise insulation between the rooms is nonexistent so unless you're an early bird and a heavy sleeper, you'd better rethink choosing this accommodation...
- breakfast: coffee (mind you, super!), a croissant, yogurt, fruit and juice - typical Italian, that is. In longer stays it is bound to get boring...
- if you have a problem with walking a lot of stairs, Abanyta is not for you
- it's not really a hotel but more like a cosy pension - perhaps a bit too pricey for what it has to offer

This small hotel is scrupulously clean and the couple that run it are pleasant and helpful. Despite being so central it is quiet because it is back from the road It is quirky and breakfast is a warm croissant and good coffee. I loved it and its location. I think it's probably the best value ever. I would definitely go back to beautiful Turin and this great hotel
