“Beautiful place”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

One of the reason tourists are impressed with this city. Places like Palazzo Madama shows the magnitude of what was the first capital of Italy.

“good museum in a splendid palace”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

I had been there long ago and went back for an exhibition and I was surprised of how beautiful it is. The palace which is a jewel in itself (from the staircase by Juvarra to the royal apartments), with lovely views on the square and a cafè in the veranda; the collections are very rich and various, spanning from superb gothic sculptures to the famous portrait by Antonello to great pieces of furniture and china. The recently added medieval garden is very lovely and interesting too.

“A new favorite museum”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

I didn't know what to expect when I entered the Palazzo Madama and so had some wonderful surprises. It appeared in my guidebook as mostly a place to see medieval and renaissance art. I enjoyed those treasures on the lowest floor and thought I was nearly done. But then the next floor up housed the opulent rooms of a Savoy Palace, and on and on. There was a special exhibit of fine pieces from the Hermitage. A nice display helps you see the history of the building from its heritage as a Roman wall. By the time I got to the attic, I was almost too tired to see the cases upon cases of fine ceramics. Fortunately, I could refresh myself in the castle garden. This is a unique marriage of a medieval castle and an 18th century palace, with several layers in between. Loved the building, the collection, and the grounds. The elevator up to the tower gives beautiful views of Turin.

“Posh window on Turin”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

This city palace is definitely worthwile visiting in Turin. Forget about queueing up for the mole Antonelliana lift. The platform in the Palazzo Madama, gives a much more intime view on Turin. The Palazzo has a great collection of art, beautifully displayed and some splendid furnished rooms. The cafe Madama is not to be missed, the kind barista serves you the best espresso in town. Sit in the club chairs with a view on the Piazza Castello, and drink your coffee. This is how beautiful life can be.

“Rich variety”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

Different eras and kinds of art in here but impressed by the medieval garden and the stuff on the top floor. Nobody had to collect this after the originals had been stolen, destroyed by war or natural disasters, as it is original as owned by the various royal estates. Good value for lovers of big rooms, and a stair case that is simply vast.
