We stayed here for 3 nights. And I must say that I was really disappointed. But I'll start naming the positives: quite clean, excellent free parking, average breakfast, 20 minutes walk from the centre. I must disagree with other reviewers about other things such as: our room wasn't new but you could see visible cracks on the walls, the service given was below average especially in such a region. If you needed any information, it was better not to ask, because they always answered in a 'sad way' and sometimes even without looking at you. Interenet wasn't functioning, but if it was it costs €4/hour. When you arrive at the reception you'll notice that it's a non-smiling zone.

We stayed here two nights with young children (4 and 2). Rooms were very quiet with excellent windows that open and electronic blinds for quiet and early morning dark. Walking to the center is possible even with a stroller (about 20 minutes at a good pace). About 15 minutes to a wonderful riverside park. A grocery is nearby. The taxi service is reasonable and efficient. Breakfast at the hotel is very nice. Speaking German made things easier, but I think one would get good service speaking only English as well (provided one is civilized in his/her approach). If you want to be in the center, this is not the place. If you want a family friendly, quiet, clean, and modern place at a reasonable price, it is great hotel.

Lovely hotel, clean, and German, as mentioned, since it's in the German sector of Bolzano. But NO AIR CONDITIONING! I can live with heat, but not for the prices paid. I knew how to let in the air by playing with the rolling window shades, but my husband would never have guessed, having never lived in Italy before. We had to keep the shades all the way down in the morning as well, because the sun's heat from the balcony radiated into the room. The reception and hallway areas were air conditioned, so I'm not sure if the previous reviewer had special room or if they left their door open at night! The room had a small oscillating fan, but it was barely adequate. Beds were very comfortable with ample space in room.

Spotlessly clean, the rooms are in a traditional style but are actually quite newly refurbished. Air conditioning worked well and the shuttered windows kept the room cool anyway. Welcome at the desk was very nice. It's a bit strange that the decoration seemed more German than Italian and dinner in the hotel's restaurant was again more Teutonic than Latin. From the hotel to the Old Town is a 10 minute walk in a dead straight line and almost the first building is the "Mummified Remains" Museum - well worth a look. The hotel's restaurant was very good for dinner and excellent for breakfast. We got parked on the street but felt lucky.

The Hotel Post Gries is in a good location in Bolzano, particulary if you are renting a car, being outside the downtown/old town area, but very convenient to it. We enjoyed the location, the restaurants nearby, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The biggest problem with this hotel is the lack of air conditioning. Bolzano gets quite warm in the summer time, and our room would be as much as 29c/85f in the late afternoon/evening. Since our room was also right over the entry door to the hotel, where smokers like to congregate, as do the walking tour groups from the hotel, and apparently the drinkers from the bar at night, our room was hot, noisy and occassionally overwhelmed with cigarette smoke. The hotel provides a fan that you can put on the windowsill to draw air, but that precludes closing the window, so we drew in the cigarettes, and we couldn't close the shutters to block out street light at night either. If we had stayed more than a few nights I would have requested to change rooms, but even so, the heat issue would not have been solved . During the cool times of the year, this would be a fine place to stay in Bolzano, with a nice restaurant for breakfast and even a tasty dinner if you desire, and clean comfortable contemporary rooms. During the summer, however, I recommend any of the large number of resorts that are available up in the mountains or in the Dolomites. The air will be cooler and fresher.

This hotel is not directly in the city center area of Bolzano. Catch the 10A bus from the train station and get off at Griesser Platz and the hotel is on the opposite side of the street. It is about a 15 minute easy walk from the center of town to the hotel. It is definitely worth the walk to stay at this hotel. We had a big lovely room on the third floor with nice views of the surrounding mountains. The bathrooms are so large ,which is a real welcome change from what you usually find in Italy. The hotel staff is super helpful and friendly and speak english A buffet breakfast is included, and was quite good. I highly recommend this hotel if you are going to stay in Bolzano.

Great hotel in Bolzano. Was there for an American Football game and spent an extra day touring around the city. The location was perfectly fine because it's located by Bus 10-A that services the whole town. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The room was perfect: electric window shutters, double paned windows, comfy beds, HUGE bathroom, and very clean. The breakfast was normal by Italian standards which means meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt and some cereal. The thing I would caution is the hotel is practically underneath the church bells which are REALLY loud and begin ringing very early on Sunday morning. The town is pretty small and I feel like you can't really escape the bells, but I felt that they were especially overbearing here.
