We have known Rifugio Alpe di Tires for several years and always try and include it in our annual trek in the Dolomites. The hike up there is good, the area is good and the food is excellent. A very busy place in good weather, and can get crowded in bad too with hasty overnight decisions when the weather turns sour. It can snow almost any time of the year at 2400 metres so check the weather forecast.
Wildlife in the area includes Chamois and Roe Deer plus of course Golden Eagles and their ever present fast food the Alpine Marmot.
The staff are multi lingual, Italian and German of course with good English too.
A family owned and run business of three generations.
