“Wonderful Hotel”
Reviewed 8 August 2011

We stayed here for our 5th Wedding Anniversary treat and it didn't disappoint. The service was impeccable and the meals a delight. The staff couldn't be more helpfull and really go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your visit. It has beautiful Gardens and pool and plenty of areas, inside and out, to just relax and luxuriate. If' like us you wanted to do some mountain walking, the bus stop from where you can access various cable car stations is just outside. We're already thinking of a return visit

Room Tip: We had a standard room which we found more than adequate for two of us.

This was our fifth stay in this wonderful Hotel and it was even better than before. The Familie Glatt-Amort really do put everything into ensuring that their guests enjoy themselves to the full and have everything they want. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the Buffet Evenings, on Fridays, surpassed all our expectations.

It is indeed hard to find anywhere else to compare with this Hotel and it is excellent value for money. Now of advanced years, we particularly value its location and the peaceful atmosphere is very much to our liking. We look forward immensely to our next visit.

We stayed at the Hotel Mignon for seven nights and enjoyed everything about the hotel.
- location is a quiet, leafy residential area but only a few minutes walk from the town's river promenade and centre
-following further improvements to the spa and other facilities was recently upgraded to 5 *
- the hotel is family managed and the Glatt-Amort family go out of their way to welcome everyone and ensure all guests 'feel at home' and receive 5* standards.
- the hotel provides guests with a complimentary Merano plus card which enables you to travel on buses, trains and cable car across the area plus free entry to many museums and other attractions.
- dinner comprises six courses and during the week the range of dishes was extremely varied and creatively presented. It certainly was approaching or exceeding Michelin star standards.

The temperature was around 30 C for most of our week so the air conditioning in our room and large balcony were very welcome.

This hotel has many returning guests and the age profile includes some younger guests, but the majority are in the active retired category. However, this had the advantage that the swimming pool was never crowded and quiet and very relaxing.

Most guests are German/Austrian or Italian but there are increasing numbers of English speaking visitors both at the hotel and in the resort. It is a wonderful area for walking with hundreds of well signed paths of all levels.

We went to Meran and stayed at the Hotel Mignon, which is just beyond the Palace.
It is a nice place to stay. Very friendly staff, good rooms, large breakfast buffet and a very good dinner. We enjoyed our stay and had also the chance to have a massage and go to the SPA.
Must say, the place is nice.

This hotel was a chosen by my in-laws, so I arrived with few expectations. I was shocked at what I found! This is a first-class, deluxe destination. The suites are spacious, well-designed, luxurious and above all, comforting. Far above the standard turn-down service you see at most four star resorts, the Park Mignon had complimentary apples, wine and aqua frizzante waiting in our room upon our arrival. The resort has recently been upgraded from 4-S (Four stars superior) to five stars. I could not agree more, this resort matched a five-star expectation at every turn, from the property to the views to the service at every level.

The restaurant is a treat for a gastronomicly-focused diner and my family was treated like royalty at every meal. Due to dietary needs, the chef and kitchen adapted and changed several options for us daily, to insure we were happy. But ignoring that, the daily menus are astounding culinary delights I have seen in the finest restaurants in major cities like NY, LA, London, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam. Now not every course of every meal was a knockout, but we were simply amazed at the breadth of selection, the culinary expertise, and the consistency of very high quality food. I'd say the restaurant offer a series of amazing tastes arranged and displayed beautifully and served exquisitely in a very private setting. While the wine list was not extravagant, it offered an excellent balance of German and Italian wines, with many local options that were excellent value to match a well-chosen grape. An admitted Bordeaux snob, I selected a couple of bottles each night from to my satisfaction but after the first two nights of our six gastronomic evening meals, I learned to work with the sommelier to choose among some lovely local Merano wines to match our meals and was very pleased with the results both in terms of pairing, flavor balance, and price.

I have not yet found another hotel-based restaurant that could match the Parc Mignon's. I truly believe it stands head and shoulders above the rest, the closest probably being the Equus Restaurant at The Castle Resort in Tarrytown, NY which I would give four stars compared to Parc Mignon's five.

This is an ideal destination for a relaxing vacation/Spa visit in northern Italy. The locals consider themselves Tyrolean, identifying more with the historical association with Austria than the more recent change of status to Italian territory. In that vein, expect the German language and Austrian customs and attitudes from both the town, locals, and hotel employees.

This Hotel really is something very special. The whole ambience of the house exudes comfort and at a fantastic price. My Wife and I have stayed there on four separate occasions and with luck and a fair wind, we shall do so again in 2010. The Familie Glatt Amort makes every effort to make their visitors feel 'at home' and over the years, they have invested heavily to provide the best of faciliities. The restaurant produces the most delicious fare; try the Sunday evening buffet for a memorable culinary delight. Breakfast on the patio, facing the magnificent garden, in the balmy warmth of a beautiful September morning was always a wonderful start to the new day. Dinner always bropught a lovely day to a perfect end.

The Hotel facilities are excellant, though I can't comment on the massage! What attracts us to Merano is that it is a very old Town, full of magnificent buildings which are reminiscent of a more sedate and luxurious age. The extensive shops provide for every need and how lovely it is to sit at a cafe on the promenade and watch the world go by in the late evening. For the hikers, the surrounding area is fabulous, from level perambulations along the Tappeiner Weg to the rigorous hikes on the heights of Merano 200. There really is something for everybody. To the reviewer who commented on being the youngest resident in the Hotel, yes it does appeal greatly to the older generation. However, it depends what you want. Even the young executive and his lady needs to 'chill-out' occasionally and where better than the Park Mignon? Don't forget to ask for a large room. Some are rather compact.

This is a lovely spa hotel in Meran/Merano, Italy in the Sud Tirol and is part of the Small Leading Hotels of the World group.
On a brief hiatus during business travel, I stayed 3 days and 2 nights in this lovely town and took advantage of the wonderful scenery, hiking oppotunities and, at this time of the year, weather.

My "standard" room was confortable albeit quite small, though an outside balcony was partial compensation. The hotel itself and the spa facilities are extensive and lovely, though I confess to having had much better massages.

A word about the clientele: I am in my early 50's and was, I believe, the youngest visitor there. The Park Mignon caters to the retired set and those there to "take the cure" and it's ideal for them, though a bit boring for those of us a bit younger. This is also not a place to take children or teens.

  • Liked — The spa
  • Disliked — The clientele appears to be quite old and therefore the hotel is a bit sedate
