My wife and I just spent the weekend in Ansitz Plantitscherhof on a small romantic getaway. What a treat! The facilities are exceptional, the food is fantastic and the staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating. Upon arrival, we had the pleasant surprise of being upgraded to a larger suite, with a nice view on the garden, a bathtub in the bedroom and all the amenities that one could wish for. We headed straight for the spa, where my wife had the 30min free massage that the hotel offers if you book through tripadvisor. She's quite the massage connoisseur, having learned it herself, and told me that it was very good. The spa, swimming pools, hot tubs etc are very well designed, extremely clean, blissfully quiet. The waterbeds next to the main pool are great places to bring a book and relax for a few hours.

I have to admit that the hotel web site represent very well the hotel: spacious and elegant rooms (even if our was not one of the recently renovated), new SPA with professionals, good location (in a residential area within walk distance from the city centre) and an excellent restaurant.
Unfortunately, besides this good aspects, I have been disappointed from the unkindness of the reception and from the fact that the hotel accepts kids, but in practice they don’t…. travelling with a 20 months baby is not easy and mostly if the hotel do not assist you suitably!!! The restaurant is in front of the hotel main building, this means to put your jacket on every time you want to eat; no baby phone could work at that distance and the one provided from the hotel works in the following way: if your son cry, the reception telephone ring and they will came to inform you….unfortunately, if they are at the phone, your baby can cry as a disparate before someone realise it!!! So, even if my son go to sleep at 20.30h, I was obliged to entertain him at restaurant until the end of the dinner….in most of the cases, I was obliged to not have dessert in order to bring him to bed. Furthermore, my son is a very quiet one; in front of his favourite cartoon, he can stay 1 hour without complaining… unfortunately the hotel WI-FI is very poor!!! It works only in the rooms (and not always efficiently) and not in the restaurant or in the hall….is that possible??? They justified this because the hotel is suppose to relax people, but if I am on holiday and I need to frequently check my e-mails due to job reasons????
On top of this, during the New Eve evening, the hotel organised fireworks in the garden....for more than 15 minutes, there were fireworks fired just above our bedroom, where a baby was supposed to sleep!!!!
In this context of unkindness (at the reception, even the owners, are almost rude in providing you information and you should speak German…), I would like to stress the kindness of the restaurant service and their collaboration in make our dinners faster.
Finally, I would not recommend this hotel due to the above mentioned reasons and also due to the fact that is extremely expensive considering the services provided…I am use to stay even in 5 stars hotels, but the services provided are adequate to the price I paid!!!

We stayed for 4 nights, and our (high) expectation have been met in (almost) all areas.

The positives:
- We had booked a superior double room, but we were upgraded to a Suite - this is a nice way to start...
- The Suite was very nice and spacious, nice materials and colors, the bathroom functional and the bed comfortable. Not super-modern, though, judging by size and type of the flatscreen TV. Which is not necessarily a bad thing
- Breakfasts and dinners were excellent
- The Location was very quiet and charming, and 15-20 min. to Meran downtown (downhill). On the way back we always took the bus, which halts just in front of the Hotel

The negatives
- Not really a problem, but you get overwhelmed by dozens of pamphlets, cards, booklets with daily programs, spa offers, sports programs, specials, room instructions, pillow instruction, the tought for the night etc. The Hotel has a broad offering and wants to pamper the guests, but surely there must a way to streamline the communications...
- The only real negative was that our neighbour had loud TV until very late. The first night I called reception at 1 am, but nobody was there. They called back, I complained and the neighbour's noise eventually stopped. But the third night it was even worse, I called reception at 2 a.m., and nobody called back this time... This is really bad: if a guest selects such a hotel in a quiet area, sleep quality must be ensured in some way by the Hotel...

This truly is a wonderful, quality venue. Nicely situated and appointed. Quirky with a mix of old world charm and modern finishing. We stayed a week in a ''Panorama Suite'. A beautiful room, if a little on the small side, with a view to die for. The food was good overall if a little inconsistent by gourmet standards. The spa and other amenities were by good. We booked the wine cellar for an intimate dinner on our last night where the room is beautiful and the food was excellent. we would however have excepcetd much more of the wine tasting menue given we had paid 120 Euro each for this, there was no explination of the 8 wines presented and we had no idea what we were drinking !. The food was superb though !.
The one major point that let this hotel down for us was the poor customer service, in the main by the reception staff. For such a high quality hotel the lack of attentiveness and apparent unhelpful attitude was poor verging on rude. The main language is German and there is no translation available in menus and the likes. The one huge saving grace for most of the stay was the head of service Manuael who was brilliant, attetive, fun and very very helpful. Had it not been for his personal efforts to make our stay enjoyable we would have been seriously dissapointed overall.

We stayed the third year in the row in this hotel. A perfect base to hike in the mountains, enjoy SPA and excellent food and service. The garden/yard and pool area is very nice. Old trees ad vine. Although the hotel has quite some rooms all areas are never crowded due to the design.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but they don't have aircon.
