While visiting Merano in early July we spent two blissful hours floating about the various heated pools at the Terme Merano. The Terme Spa building itself is a very large modern design glass and steel cube, so when inside visitors can also view the town and mountains in the distance. The pools extend out into large landscaped gardens with more heated pools and loungers, I’m sure it must be teeming with visitors here when the sun is shining. We were surprised to find that the changing facilities here were exactly like those I remember from the Spa Wellness Centre in Bath in England when we were there last summer, same type of changing cabins and lockers for storing clothes etc. some coincidence or a trans-European design (?) We were there in the late afternoon/early evening between 17.30-19.30pm, the pools were fairly well visited but there was so much space there was never any feeling of being crowded, and we just swam and paddled and moved from the one pool to the other, both indoors and outdoors. Apparently there are some 15 pools altogether, both inside and outside. One of the outdoor pools, quite small, was heated to 28’ and was bliss! Several of the pools had bubbles of varying strength as well as several small waterfalls to sit under or use as massage on shoulders/neck, my partner really enjoyed this to limber up stiff muscles :-) There are also saunas and steam room facilities, as well as a number of spa and beauty treatment facilities available at Terme Merano. As we were there for just 2 hours we didn’t have time to try anything else, but we’ll be back here next time we are in Merano. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys pools, lovely therapeutic water with mineral salts, spas and being kind to yourself and your body!

We had a lovely afternoon at this terme. Stylish buidling, heated pools inside and outside, lots of saunas, and a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.

If you are inside the spa you can't take a single picture of your own face, even if you are in the external pool. Photography is forbidden, ok.
But how comes external visitors can take pictures of everyone inside through the glass balustrade on the internal pools (entrance hall)???!!???
Visiting people are ceaselessly taking pictures of everyone inside, with mobile phones, tables, cameras with 15 cm zooms.
Is this situation normal??
I don't thin so!!
How comes I don't have a single picture of myself inside and 50 unknown people have my picture?? Yes, this really happened!
How comes if you try to take a picture of yourself inside you get aggressively told off, and if an external (dressed) visitor takes pictures of you from the balustrade (this happened continously!) NOBODY tells him to stop????
This is really UNACCEPTABLE!!

Many people go to the thermal bath to relax, but having children running around screaming and splashing is not relaxing. Maybe if there would be an area designated for children it might make for a more enjoyable experience.

First class infrastructure with stylish design and well maintained. Unfortunately it is designed for maximising customer hourly throughput, but not the customer spa experience. Service details are simply not there, cashiers sell tickets but do not give information, towels need to be rented on a separate shop with separate payment (bring your own towel like on a public swimming pool), water and teas are not available on the sauna area, etc. Families with kids are welcome (and they are many) so the felling of an aqua park and not of a relaxing spa. The personnel inside acts more like controlling police instead of informing guides.

In conclusion, well designed and maintained, excellent for families with kids but relaxation only possible in the sauna area (mixed gender naked policy) - depending on the days large crowds to be expected.
