“Lovely friendly hotel”
Reviewed 26 February 2014 via mobile

What a lovely place to stay! My wife and I were there for the last week in January. The hotel is perfectly placed 50m from the piste, at the top of the high street. Ok, it is quite 70s inside, but it doesn't matter. It is well kept and clean. The food was lovely! There was an extensive hot or cold buffet for breakfast, and a tasty four course menu at dinner. The waiting staff were friendly, helpful and always keen to help. The spa facilities were excellent, so nice to relax in after a hard day on the slopes.
Our room was clean, comfortable and well looked after by the maid service. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again, brilliant times.......

We booked a family room at over 200 Euro's per night. Upon arrival at the hotel late at night we found there were no car parking spaces left so we had to resort to effectively 'dumping' the car.

Our room was tiny which was not consistent with the description and to say it was so hot is an understatement. We were forced into a catch 22 situation re the room temperature. We turned the radiators off but the room remained stifling hot so much so none of the family managed to have a full nights sleep during the stay. We even reverted to leaving the room window open which was not ideal so far up a mountain and soon found that the room was too cold.

The breakfast buffet was average to say the least.

For a change of routine we decided to take advantage of the 'games room' which comprised of a dart board (plastic darts et al which did not work), a wonky pool table with plastic tipped cues which we had the pleasure of paying 3 euros per game and table tennis.

The manager/owner of the hotel was always present during breakfast sittings but his interaction with guests was non-existent. This could not be said of his staff who were helpful and excellent from day one.

The leisure facilities were exellent with a swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. These facilities were just what the doctor ordered after a day on the slopes.

Room Tip: Before accepting a room on arrival we would advise guests to checking the heating first.

First of all, I booked this the day before we arrived and got it at a knock down price and thank goodness I did. I have been to Cervinia before and knew the hotel's excellent location so I thought for 3 days I can't go wrong and essentially it was an OK stay. But as other reports stated the hotel needs a serious update
Good points
attentive reception, mostly, always trying to help
location
Spotlessly clean
price (if you book late)
Negative points
Outdated rooms, with no shower only hand held device so water goes everywhere. So outdated that the plug sockets have an old 3 pin plug
Breakfast disorganised - ended up just sitting down with no-one asking us what we wanted to drink. Cooked items finished and no sign of them being replenished with an hour left of breakfast
TV screen so small you had to sit right in front of it to see it
No where to park if car park full
Having said this, skiing was excellent as usual. Cervinia is such an underated resort. Despite being half term, the slopes were empty and didn't queue for any lift. You can also ski into Zermatt..

We booked late and were reluctant after reading some reviews on Trip Advisor.
All I can say is that anyone finding fault with this hotel is on another planet.
What you get for what you pay is unbelievable.
swimming pool, sauna, steam room Jacuzzi, fitted bath robes, slippers, all free.
A Buffett style breakfast, with countless pastries, cold meats cheeses, sausage, bacon eggs, cereals rolls toast really good quality uncut bread jams and preserves, unlimited fruit yogurts.
The evening meal is a real treat, the staff are all dressed in really smart uniforms, the male staff are in evening suites bow ties the works, each meal is 4 courses, unlimited salads and desserts a meat and pasta course, really friendly staff allways with a smile.

The reception is a delight, every time we went in out out we had a cheeky smile and a kind word.

The rooms again first class, bath shower, sky TV Min Bar twin beds. and balcony, and to top it all its a 2 min walk to the chair lift, and a 1 minute into the town.

The only complaint I have is the guy I shared a room with snored so loud it kept me awake most nights, however the beds were so comfortable it didn't matter

Will stay again without doubt

Enjoyed our stay here, staff very friendly and helpful, rooms good and food plentiful. Definitely would stay again. Great location, with easy access to the ski lifts only a couple of mins walk away. See you soon :-)

I have just returned from a week here and I was delighted with my choice. The hotel itself was very nice indeed, spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helped with my desire to learn new Italian words each day. Food was spot on and the the proximity to the slopes was super. Only a couple of minutes walk between this hotel and another...perfect! The boot room is accessed externally with lockers unique to your room number. The free wifi worked even in my room on the third floor so there was no need to have to sit in a lounge or foyer to go online. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are considering a ski trip to Cervinia.

after recent management change, this hotel offers excellent food, great location, friendly and helpful staff. All rooms clean and very warm. Very convenient for the Cretez chair lift which feeds into the main ski area. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.We were in a group of 28 and no one had any complaints!

Room Tip: rear of hotel for views of matterhorn but all rooms quiet.
