“A real find”
Reviewed 25 May 2013

This small hotel is listed as three stars; but it has at least four star comfort combined with the friendliness of a B&B. We had a large room with a terrace and lots of light, in the front of the hotel. The bathroom was beautifully appointed. The internet service was flawless. Breakfast was at a communal table that stimulated conversation, much like in a B&B. The location is within walking distance of all the major sights of Padua, restaurants, cafes, etc. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Front of the hotel and a higher floor (there are only 4 floors) to maximize light.

We spent two nights at Hotel Patavium and we have kind of mixed feelings.
The pros:
Location is great: quite neighborhood, walking distance to Scrovegni Chappel and the city center 10-15 minutes. Distance from the train station 15-20 minutes.
Spacious room with a veranda and clean bathroom with Jacuzzi.
Parking: upon arrival and if you have booked parking space concierge gives you directions for the parking, at which spot you should park the car and an electronic key which opens the parking gate. Very useful and very convenient only 2 minutes away from the hotel.

The cons:
Internet is definitely not working. In both days we tried the password and never worked (although I was on the first floor). When I complained to the front desk they told me that may be there is a problem and they would check. Problem was never fixed.
Breakfast we found it to be poor. Croissants were almost burned both days and the lady who was making coffee was also getting the dishes out of the dishwasher creating havoc with the noise. If the weather is nice you could seat at the veranda – much better than inside.

We stayed at Patavium for five nigths, in a comfort class room. The room was spacy and clean - equipped with a small terrace, tea/coffee facilities in the room and a jacuzzi in the bathroom. The staff was extremely kind and the breakfast was good - served in a room with one long table. A peculiar solution, but worked well for a small hotel with only 20 rooms.
Patavium is situated a little bit aside - about a 10-15 minute walk from the historical centre and <10 euros taxifare from the railway station. Two buslines has a stop right in the front of the hotel, so it's easy to take the bus if you don't like walking (get a Padova card for 48 or 72 hours - free public transport and discounts on sights). The buses stop running after eight in the evening, so getting back from dinner means walking. Since the hotel is a little bit aside there is no restaurants in the immidiate neighbourhood, and only a small grocery store at the corner.
The hotel has wifi, but it's a very personal one - makes you sign in over and over again. So if you really need the internet connection, consider to have been warned...

Friendly staff and the normal rooms are more classy than the 3 stars indicate. Good breakfast, but no hotel restaurant. In 10 minutes you can get to the city center by foot. The hotel is situated in a very quiet part of the city. Parking space is a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: When you have a chance get hold of the external 'shed'. It has more privacy than you'll...

We stayed here for one night and was very comfortable one.Greeted with smile on arrival by lady on reception in evening and checked in without delay.Beds are comfy, rooms are clean and we were lucky to have a balcony access from our room.No tea & coffee facilities in room but was out most of the time,so did not concern us a lot.Small bathroom problem which could not be fixed and door did not lock properly from inside(Room 8).Breakfast was brilliant and no complaints at all with it.Walking distance to shops and town center. Not bad at all for a night stay on way to Venice.

Room Tip: Room with balcony even tho there is no view.
