After reading some great reviews regarding this hotel we were a bit dispointed in several areas. The rooms were spacious and nice but there was no tea/coffee making facilities. Reception told us that they would provide hot water if needed. They didn't tell us that they would charge us E2 for a tea bag! Our air conditioning broke down on Friday. After one night of sleeplessness and heat I couldn't believe I was actually paying them money to stay in these conditions. I complained but they couldn't replair the AC until Monday. They did offer us a single room instead or maybe sleep with the window open! Also beware that if you are staying for several days the nearest laundry is not just across the road as the staff suggested but a bus ride into the town centre. Breakfast was really nice and we could use the nice garden area as well. There was also a comfort area if you wanted to sit and relax (and drink your expensive tea). As only one of us wanted breakfast we did not prepay for it. I went down most days but one day I decided to skip. When we checked out that breakfast was included and we had great difficulty explaining this to the check out guy who begrudgingly took it off the bill. I would have thought with all the problems with the AC they might have deducted the two tea bags from our bill...but no! Customer service at Hotel Patavium could be improved.

Room Tip: Ensure that the air conditioning is working properly!

Nice, small size hotel, friendly personel, spacious room in garden which appeared to leak with rain storms, and the roof creaks at night when it cools down, also no WIFI in this room. Good breakfast. Reasonably close to city center.

We stayed 4 nights, the end of April/early May. I laughed, just reading doug s's ''not impressed'' review.
We had the same room, back at the end of the rear courtyard, and had many of the same issues with this room.
This is a quite large room, and is very pretty... It was pouring down rain, when we were lead outside, across the courtyard. It did seem very ''cave-like'', with the gray window shades pulled down, as it was dark inside..
Also note: the lightweight window shades that are ''suppose to'' slide up and down with-in a narrow grid, are difficult to operate without ''tearing''. Neighbors were having a loud May Day Party to start off the holiday weekend, and the mosquitoes were looking for a way in, and found it where the shades were torn.. It may have been raining, but it was warm...and no AC.
The bathroom is quite spacious, with a lovely wide shower & wide countertop, plus all needed was supplied.. We're not tall, and had no issue with the low beam in the bath, mentioned by doug s,
There is a separate little room with a curtained closet at the back. However, there is no shelf above the rod, and no place but the floor to set anything down as you are unpacking. The mini fridge up against the side wall is '''a dangerous tripping hazard''', and should be on a table, or under a table... This needed table would also offer someplace to set something.
NO WiFi...
The hotel has WiFi, but not out here. So if you need it, be sure to request you Do Not Get This Room. We had to cross in the rain to the breakfast room, or sit in the lobby for WiFi.
As other reviewers say, 1 large table seating 10-12 only.. Most people seemed to find this awkward, and people were often waiting for a seat, or separated from their family.. We too thought it was awkward, but ended up chatting with a nice group of Germans.
Note: In nice weather, there are 3? tables with chairs on the rear patio for dining outside... These were hidden by the closed curtains in the breakfast room.
Back to the beams, which look nice across the ceiling... However, they creak and groan, to the point you wonder if they're actually gonna fall on you... I sent my husband out, and he studied the situation. He thinks, that with this room attached to neighboring large garage building, that the creaking is caused as the garage door goes up and down. That seemed to be an issue, only in the late afternoons / evenings. It did not disturb our sleep.
A room this size should have more than 1 chair...!!
Large enough for a roll away, or a baby cot.
Pretty little bedside tables and 1 mid sized dresser were so lightweight you had to hold the piece of furniture in place, or it came towards you across the tile floor, as you tried to open the drawers.
******This review sounds petty, I'm sure.. But this room has so much more potential******
Breakfast service is the best it can be with only one server.. Truthfully, if two, they would be stumbling over each other, trying to clear table space so others can be seated, serve coffee, load dishwashers within the tiny kitchen space, etc.
Would I stay here again, yes, if this room was improved..
I Can Not speak for rooms in the main building.
We had both deadly dull, as well as excellent service at the front desk.. Little bar/shop next door, with a tiny market/deli a couple doors down, and the butcher shop had some decent wine. Long May Day Weekend had most other businesses completely closed.

Room Tip: If you are reserving, and must have WiFi, be sure to NOT get this room without asking if it's yet been ''installed''.

This hotel had such great reviews we were expecting a great experience. However we were given a room not in the main building that reminded me of a cave. The room was not clean (cheese in frig), it was stuffy and AC was not available so we opened windows which invited the local mosquitoes to have a feast. here is a beam in the bathroom that was lower than 6 ft. I hit my head almost everytime I went to the toilet. The garden was a combination of old grass and new weeds. Nice neighborhood. We loved the rest of Padova.

The room was good value for money, clean and newly decorated. However, as someone else pointed out the Manager (owner?) is pretty rude and unhelpful. When we arrived, the reception was unattended for about 15 minutes, not a good impression at a peak of day. When he finally arrived he was more interested in taking phone calls than checking us in.

When we asked for directions to go to down town, he just pointed at a pile of maps and said you can find your own way on the map! He makes Basil Fawlty look like the perfect host! The other staff seemed OK.

The hotel is in an area which looks pretty run down, but it seemed pretty safe to walk around late at night. A couple of excellent eateries in the street that runs parallel.
