“A lovely wine bar with excellent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2012

We liked the modern look of this place, so we thought we would take a flyer at it. We were quite early arriving and we were a bit cautious as the bar was fairly busy, but the restaurant was empty. "Ah well", we thought; the food might not be so great but at least we will get some interesting wines to try. How wrong we were; the food was great, especially the "creme brulee"- type desert.

The first surprise was that the chef from another excellent restaurant we had been in only the previous evening was dining next to us!! The second surprise was the complementary "anima nera" (liquorish liqueur).

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2012

An inventive fish restaurant serving beautiful fresh produce, with a focus on raw and lightly cooked food. Also the only place I've ever eaten a three course starter.

When the swordfish, tuna, prawns, cuttlefish (I think) and coffee-and-ginger-smoked salmon arrived we thought it a slightly small portion for two people, but the quality of the food more than made up for it. And then they brought us two raw langoustine, and then a full bowl of mussels cooked in rosemary and olive oil, making the starter delicious, huge, and incredibly reasonably priced.

We followed the starter with some lovely gnochetti and a perfectly seasoned tuna tartare (with rock salt, olive oil and what may have been flaked, dried seaweed). This was some of the best food I've ever eaten, and we happily joined the stream of people giving their thanks to the chefs (the open kitchen is right in the corner of the restaurant).

The wine and flatbreads were lovely too.

“Superb”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

Outstanding fresh fish prepared with a personal twist and served with professionality, without being poshy. Love the prawns seared in orange juice and raw on the other side, the infinite selection of tuna, prepared either in a classic tartarre, and in a bresaola (dry style carpaccio)...and the finger licking "Gnocchetti Enotavola" alongside the "Bottarga and lupini linguine". All the ingredients being wisely mixed in order to create a symphony of flavours without overpowering the fish at all. Every course has been matched by lovely italian sparkling wines...all the food and wine was reccomended by the waitress who provided a warm and nice service.
Definitively a great experience, good value for money. Highly recommended and...open till late!!
