You HAVE to visit the botanical garden: it's impressive! The history behind it is mind-blowing. The guides are very friendly and helpful.

“World's Oldest Botanical Garden”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

After visiting the cathedral next door we walked over to the garden. We were surprised by how much we liked it. Being a forester by education I was surprised to see so many North American species, and I was fascinated by similar species from around the world. The garden encompasses all sizes of plants, from flower pot size to very big trees. It has fountains, roses, and other flowering plants for the beauty of it, and a poisonous plant garden, too.

“Gorgeous experience”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

I have read some negative reviews on this site going back to 2010, so I am sure something happened in the meantime to improve the condition of these gardens. The bottom line in 2014 is an absolute marvel of a site, an astonishing, impeccably-kept Eden of plant life. I went with small children, and even they were fascinated by the experience. We spent at least 3 hours in the park and I would gladly return to spend even more time to appreciate this fabulous wonder of Nature.

“Rich history although not much in bloom.”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

I've visited this garden three times now and am still captured by its beauty. The first time my fiance and I were killing time walking around Padova one weekend and decided to take a visit. It was nice, but there was little in bloom. The plants had little effect on the grey ambiance of the space at this visit around Feb 2014. When I returned for a visit with a tour group May 2014, the ground were much more visually appealing, although still not stunning. Learning the rich history of the gardens and its importance for the medical school of Padova was incredibly interesting and added significance to the space. Would recommend a tour as figuring out these things alone is not easy with the resources provided there. Apparently they are opening a greenhouse in July 2014. It is a massive building with a large collection of plants that will certainly add value to a visit.
