This very small, quaint trattoria is totally unpretentious but wow, what they manage to prepare in the tiny kitchen is wonderful!
We were here during a major holiday week and the street was very quiet, but there was only one available table for lunch at Osteria ai Scarponi.
Our first course was the bigoli with rabbit and it was everything it should have been, lots of rabbit ragout served on piping hot pasta. (Hope you’re hungry when you order this).
As mains we had octopus that was served on mash potato with sweet red onion and tomatoes. Luckily this portion is not as big as the bigoli!
For drinks we went with an artisanal beer that was lovely and went well with both courses.
The dessert of the day was a ground almond and chocolate cake that was maybe the best I have ever eaten, not too rich, not too sweet, think almonds and bitter chocolate mixed together.
Be sure to reserve, especially for dinner as this is a popular place. I must include a note about the staff. They are young, enthusiastic and so talented.
