I would always recommend Locanda San Tomaso when staying in Treviso,it is within the ancient walls, the room was immaculately cleaned and stocked every day. The breakfast was served every day up in the loft area which is beautifully furnished with antiquities that have been in the owners family for generations. It is a good base to explore Treviso and do some shopping. The train station is on the other side of the city but a short bus trip (buy tickets at the Tabacchi shop) or taxi (they arrive regularly at the train station) will get you and your luggage there safely. It was so lovely, that I returned to their doorstep after having spent 10 days on another town, they happily accommodated me in their last free room for a few more days. There is a great cafe next door and a bar on the corner for a relaxing drink or two. I will always stay here when I visit Treviso primarily for shopping, the people are more local and very well dressed and mannered. The locanda and the area it is in represents a true picture of the real Northern Italian lifestyle away from the crowds and stress of Venice.
